Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean : Curse of the Black Pearl.I worked on this for so long now, it must have been close to a month...
I used a reference photo, of course. I took some liberties so I didn't need to go so dark with it.
Size 26,5 X 25 cm, pencils 2H-3B, finished 27.10-04

I'm loving the shadows you included. Fabulous hat. Heee... makes me giddy. I can understand how you got bored with it, there's so much in this picture. I think you did a wonderful job with it, honestly. It feels like it needs more contrast, however; probably the result of just not being able to see the piece in person.

Well actually, I'm sort of hoping to get back to this too. I haven't drawn anything decent since... this, really. And that's two years ago.
The recipie is practise, I've learned. Add a bit of luck and a good day, and you have it done. I'm sure you can outrun me by many times if you want to. It shouldn't be to difficult.

Well, if you think the photo sucks, then the original must be amazing. Excellent job - it looks just like Jack, although unusually contemplative, hehe. The only possible flaw might be that his chin is a bit long, but nothing to worry about. Great job!!

Yes, I used up to 3B for the darks. I don't like soft pencils and try to keep away from anything softer than 4B. You just have to use more pressure to get the same blackness as you would with softer pencils.

I adore the hats and beads. I don't know if it's the part you rushed at, but if it is I really can't tell (Me, I always rush the hair, so it was my first guess I think). I love his expression, he looks lively. It blew me away. Excellent.

I rushed the steering weel or whatever it's called on a boat. Hehe, I hate drawing hair too. Especially single colored hair. So boring. But actually, Jack's was pretty funny to draw as far as I remember.
