Description
In the spirit of spooks and scares I figured I'd flesh out an old character idea of mine.

So yeah obvious thing is obvious but yes, he is indeed a member of the undead. However the circumstances of Epitaph's situation are actually a little unorthodox.

His actual death was over 100 or so years ago but instead of "moving on" or whatever he became a spirit. Not unlike other ghosts like Tikal and those 3 from night of the werehog.
He really wasn't feeling being an ethereal being however so as soon as he got the hang of floating around, he went right back to the morgue that had his body and used his new ghost powers to posses and puppet it. Essentially bringing himself back to life.

Since his body is technically dead it cant heal without magical help so any injuries he gets are permanent. and if he takes to much damage at once his spirit will be forced out.
That isn't a true death sentence for him though. He rarely uses it but he's still got control full of his ghost form. At any time he can leave his body and do all the things any other ghost can do, and even take the time to manually repair his body if it's too broken to control properly.
but because of his over-reliance on his meat home if he spends to much time away from it he'll lose his connection to the living world and be exorcised.

Now you may look at this guy and think. "Wow...he looks pretty shady."
(Dont lie many people do and he's use to it.)
In reality though he's probably the most wholesome individual you'll ever lay eyes on.
He's spent most of his time as a zombie helping other spirits around the world pass on to the afterlife by ridding them of any lingering regrets they may have. Be it finishing an unsolved case for a dead detective, making sure a mother's child is doing well in school, or even providing therapy sessions to those spirits still coping with their own demise.
He's incredibly patient and understanding and will never exorcise a spirit that is not ready and willing to be sent to the afterlife. There is one thing he will not tolerate however, And that is when spirits negatively interfere with the lives of the living. Should he come across a ghost that would cause harm to anyone alive he'll seal them in his enchanted shovel.

When he's not traveling the world he sets up shop in the Hang Castle (the level from Sonic Heroes) which has become a safe haven over the years for any and all Undead.
