I finally got it finished! This took be days to complete because I kept changing ideas and paint.The concept is robin in teen titans and what he could have become. I decided to use the quote from the episode about fathers because I believe one of the critical factors of Robin's heroic personality is, of course, Batman's influence. This picture almost is a "what if" with the other side being a representation of Slade actually becoming a father figure to Robin (whether forced or willing). Its that confrontation with his mirror image of the person he doesn't want to become also.
As I was painting this, I had a little thought. What the hell is the point with the new mask he gets from Slade? Its appearance, I know, a signature of Slade I guess, but it was bothering me a little...Also it reminded me that in the show it looks like Slade is watching Robin change his outfit, which creeps me out and makes me wonder if he took off his mask in front of Slade... I find it creepy.

Why do people keep talking about Batman as if he was Robin dad? He's not, and he never adopted any of the Robins. He didn't raise and take care of the Robins for most of their lives until he was killed. Forgetting and downright ignoring the dead like this is *fucking disrespectful*.

First of all, this isn't me talking in the quote. It's directly from the teen titans show and it wasn't meant to be against robins biological father but more as an insult to slade. Batman may not be his biological father but did raise him after his parents died and saying that that isn't worthy of being a father figure is disrespectful to all good father figures. Also he did recently have a son who became robin named Damien Wayne, who just recently died in the comics.

I know the quote's from the show. It only makes it worse. I get annoyed every time it's brought up, and I decided to bitch because you brought it up.
Β Don't know about Bruce being a father figure, he seems too messed up in the head for that; dressing up as a bat and going out to punch criminals in the face for a hobby. More like a particularly dangerous teacher, boss and mentor to the Robins (Richard and Tim, from the DCAU). And even if Bruce could be like a father, it doesn't make forgetting the actual father's any better.
Β But alright, I admit in this case the whole thing is so brief that the implication could simply be "I already have a new surrogate father figure". Still not handled as well as it could have been, and I suspect it contributed substantially to the tendency in fanfiction to forget about John and/or Jack.
Β I forgot about Damian. Have tried getting into the new 52, but the pacing really rubs me the wrong way.

i love it when robin replys that. mostly because after he says that, bats fly away and i am like "omfg look bats omg batman on god i swear slade is screwed!" i go crazy in other words.

i know!! i watch the episode in youtube and i read the comments and one of them i s funny like there is no tomorrow, it is about batman checking on the Wayne building and catches robin stealing and then goes all crazy and, well it is funny you got to read it!
