Meanwhile, Mr. Cake is busy cleaning tables...Makes total sense!
I was discussing this idea when Baby Cakes first aired, but then kept putting it off because of how much work I figured it would be. And I wasn't wrong. Seriously... I feel like all I've been doing for the past few days is drawing. And now it's finally done. Whew!
Edit: Apparently the text color was giving some people troubles. Changed to black, hopefully that should be readable to all.
Yes, I know horses are pregnant for 11 months, not nine! You can stop telling me about it. These aren't normal horses though, and they're human in so many other ways. Baby horses also wouldn't need baby carriages, or to be carried, because they can walk within hours. Besides, if I said 11 months a lot of people wouldn't get the joke, and jokes are not funny if they have to be explained.

Guys, please. clearly, wings and horns are both defined by recessive genes and Mr. and Mrs. Cakes were both heterozygotes for both genes. That explains why neither of them had horns or wings but their children do.

While I prefer your explanation (and subscribe to a similar theory) I will say, that fueling comics on trollestia, is something I am not opposed to. XD
(I'll be frank, I don't think that the authors made any consideration to the actual nature of how genes work. Aside from that, I'm not sure it would be supported by the show that they are recessive, as it seems that's more how background ponies children as identified, is by their one parents more obvious traits.... however again, I don't think any thought was put into how actual genes work, so even if your hypothesis was supported by the show for now [via fannon assessment], I suspect it would eventually be squished by lack of consideration on the authors parts.)

Except for the fact that they aren't really very horse like, in any respect, except by name, this would be a very good point.
Their "hooves" are more like squishy malleable tool use blobs of flesh, and they sit on chairs in houses. XD So effectively, I'd have to say it doesn't really matter how long real horses gestate, it wouldn't end up affecting "ponies" - in besides, the joke is clearly not intended to be a fannon suggestion, so it just needs to be a joke. (It succeeds! It's funny.
