Description
A Russian soap boomsfrom the speakers hidden
around the room
to mix with the irritating buzz
of the needle going in the back.
Antiseptic and
Cigarettes.
That odd combination
every 18-year-old
wants to run to
I’m there…
My breath comes short.
Pulse pounding in my
femoral
artery.
The signature I flourish
becomes
a mockery
as hands take on a mind
I cannot control.
Eased
onto the leather
my new best friend
takes out a needle
that looks like it could be used
to sample an elephant’s bone
marrow.
Two grown men
inked to the point
of no return
hold my leg still.
Not fainting
concerns me more.
Focus on the
Love
Handles
of the dude getting
that cliché
nautical star/skull/dragon.
He laughs
as I
wince.
Trying not to look
Too
Pathetic.
Blackness invades,
Soft
Innocent
White
Becomes scarlet
Casting shadows…
Twenty minutes
and I’ve been changed
For life
And I freaking
Love
It…
I’ll be back.
Addictions
must be
fed.

I like it. There were a few lines that I agree were "eh," but overall, totally got the message across in a discrete way.

Definitely one of the more creative poems I've read, excellent writing.
