For some time now I have been e-mailing my wife a flower photograph every morning as a small way of saying "I love you."
This morning I sent her your beautiful flower. This makes you a part of a love story that began in 1965. [link]

I like how the stamen don't cast any disturbing shadows. And the colors are wonderful.

amazing photo
great lighting and shadows
i was looking at the flower club and i took a photo of the same type of flower at the same angle
[link]
the lighting is completely different and i must say yours is way cooler but i thought it was kind of funny

They are very similar...all I can say is, "Brilliant minds must think alike!"
Actually, I have found that there are only so many ways to take a pic of a lily...this angle seems to work the best for me. And as for the lighting, it was just natural late morning light out in the garden. So in other words...I just got lucky!

haha
i agree
you are right about the angles, there arent many ways to try it
i like that angle because it makes the flower seem larger than life, it also brings out the yellow at the center
you have to have quite an eye to get a photo like you did
so in other words: it takes skill to get lucky
lol
great shot again

Awesome capture. Did you set this up with a background or is the darkness behind the flower from the DOF? Well done by the by.

Thank you soooo much! I certainly wish that I could say the background was intentional. But this was taken with a simple point & shoot camera...so, it was all by chance.
However, I did just recieved my first Nikon digital SLR yesterday...still trying to figure it out! But, I'm very excited to see exactly what I can do with it!

Well, after many months of looking and not wanting to feel overwhelmed by a camera...I decided on the new Nikon D40 as my first "real" camera! I think this will be a nice transitional camera for me, going from a point & shoot to a 35mm digital SLR. Still trying to figure it all out, but hopefully I will post some new pictures from it soon! Wish me luck...and thanks for the "help" offer! I'm sure I will be taking you up on it!

I love the colors on this one! As I've told you before, tiger lilies are my favorite flowers, so naturally your lily pictures are always my favorites!
I love the deep reds and the black together, they make the gold pop so gorgeously!
And I love the name for this, PERFECT!
