Description
Captive, drowning Prince Luke, sinking to the bottom of a sea littered with the remnants of a lost battlefield. A dream-sequence that never really happened (lucky for him.) You can learn more about Luke and the "Not All Kings Wear Gold" storyline here: [link]0.5 mechanical pencil and Photoshop 5.5

Again, I'm amazed at the way you unify the morbid with the beautiful...it almost seems as if he's already surrendered to his drowning. A very interesting sceneO_o Makes me want to learn more about your series (lol I have one in the works too that is neverending)

Huh? This is an illustration from a written fantasy series. And, as it says up there, it's a dream sequence---he's dreaming this, he's not actually drowning. That sunken battlefield is a key part of the story, and he finds it in a dream while captive to a rebel prince. What has this got to do with my life?

How beautiful! Sad and heart-wrenching, though. But still beautiful. I say beautiful a lot when commenting on your pictures ...
The angle is wonderful and the light source is successfully blue-tinged and wobbly. His hair floating in the water is excellent. I tend to clump it up too much.
This was done digitally? Wow.

It 's impressive! It is interesting to know you drew that one after reading a fantasy book...I think I may try this creative technique very soon (the possibilities are limitless!) Your underwater abyssal battlefield is nicely realized and your character really seems to float! I like this pic a lot!!

So, you're both a novelist and a great artist? You sure got what it takes to be famous! How many books did you wrote?

AdeleLorienne In reply to Zagan [2004-04-27 20:20:49 +0000 UTC]
Quite a few, some fantasy, some not. Most of my artwork, however, is drawn from my current fantasy series 'The Wars of Avenan'. There's five books in the series, and this picture is a scene from the third. You can find more information about the books and characters on my website.

wow, this is an amazing image as well. All your drawings are so beautiful in the way they portray a moment in the life of whatever character or legend is being depicted.
You've done an awesome job at rendering the underwater world in which the prince finds himself trapped. The lighting is especially impressive; you seem to have a nack for that.

The Golden Prince? The title sounds cool May I suggest adding some vertically rising bubbles to make it look like he's falling in the water? You did the hair and clothing really well to give a sinking feel, but water's just stupid and needs bubbles. The water being hit by the light came out well, too. This is just a really nice picture. Oh, and why didn't they tie his feet, too? I'd totally be able to swim feet-only

StrawberryP0cky In reply to AdeleLorienne [2004-04-26 06:14:39 +0000 UTC]
Haha, guess not! :fullsizes: :glasses put on: Ah, yes, there are bubbles. Well, even so, I was expecting something more dramatic...but I suppose the "tons of bubbles" thing happens right when you're dropped in the water and lessen considerably as you sink, eh?

Wonderful, wonderful colours... It not only really reflects how falling in the sea must be, but also the dream-like quality. I'm really impressed with your skill, especially with the water. I can almost feel myself falling with him. Despite the drowning aspect, it makes me feel really tranquil and relaxed. It's not manyartists that can manipulate people's senses with drawing, but you've really managed it. Bravo!

I'm sure glad it's just a dream sequence... I hope the actual character isn't having a premonition... o_o
Anyway... The art is fantastic... the composition is wonderful and the over all coloring job is very believeable. I was never good with making underwater scenes believeable, but you sure are.
