Description "From the moment he had come to this world she knew of him, perhaps even before, and forever after. She knew the burdens of his heart and how his thoughts seemed not to be thoughts but riddles planted in his consciousness like so many weeds. How she loved him for his pain, it consumed her, those memories of his that she remembered and he did not. In him would be a revelation of her memories, she knew, but she would not speak of those things. She would not speak of anything. She could not. An interdiction beyond life had come upon her. She was silent.
But the wind... the wind could whisper his name for her."

My entry for Delurianne's art contest back in 2007, featuring characters from her haunting and captivating story "The Cradle of Whispers". She is not only a talented artist, but an amazing writer as well! I can't possibly do her characters justice, but this is my interpretation of Isobel and the ghostly Elessario. The thorns and flowers symbolize not only the differences in their characters, but also the hardships and rewards Isobel experiences throughout his unusual lifetime. The birds represent fleeting memories and freedom.

I also played with a vague "hidden image" of sorts within the linework, since Isobel is known as a Dragon Lord. If you look closely, you might be able to see a dragon's head and neck in the forest, and the rest of its body and wings suggested by the characters' positions and clothing. This may help: [link]

It's a finished pencil piece. The hidden image would not work if this were shaded or colored.

I don't really think the hidden piece works now. Either the lines you want the person to see need to be a little more emphasized as the eye and brain naturally fill in the gaps to create a recognizable shape or you have to make the shape in a more predictable pattern. Emphasizing the eye alone might make a difference. In this way color might help a lot. Though, the problem here is that your hidden piece cuts through the other central images in odd ways, which is again another reason it does not work.

I didn't see the possibility for a hidden piece until you said something and even then, when I started looking for it, I thought I recognized what looked to be an eye far and away from the head of the dragon and started looking for head like shapes from there.

It's a beautiful piece anyway. But if you were going for the hidden horses or hidden wolves (there's two very successful images that have those hidden within them) type look -- that part does not work for me. Sorry.
