Description
From where they stood on the edge of the Lon Lon Plateau, they could see the vast rolling hills of Hyrule field, and the distant Kakariko mountain range. Malon gasped when she saw where he was pointing. She couldn't imagine even scaling a mountain that tall, let alone a volcano that had been precariously active for years. When her father returned from Kakariko, he had mentioned that the locals were convinced it would erupt any day now. Yet Link intended to climb to its summit, and descend inside of it!The concept of Link pointing out where he would go next to Malon... the summit of Death Mountain... was something I was so excited to do. It was a heavy task for Mickael to undertake, but when he was finished the result was breathtaking. It's very hard to depict the ring of cloud that circulates around the top of Death Mountain, but I think he achieved the realism quite well. We spent weeks looking at clouds and examples of how they could appear in strange shapes in reality before we settled upon this. I hope you guys love it!
NOTE: There are two easter eggs in this pic. Can you find Zora's falls and Kakariko village?!
The Zelda Project is a Los Angeles, CA based group of friends who seek to bring to life the characters, settings, and overall feel of Ocarina of Time through photography and film. Our ultimate goal is to create the characters as they would appear in reality to the best of our abilities, placing them in beautiful sceneries true to their Hyrulean counterparts, and creating elaborate photosets, as well as a film short (coming soon! Stay tuned for our Kickstarter project!).

The Malon costume is a classic remake of my original Malon costume. The skirt, blouse, and scarf are all 100% linen of varying weaves and thicknesses. The costume has been distressed to show wear and tear, assuming that Malon would get dirty if she was working on the ranch all day! The background is a beautiful digital matte painting by Mickael Forrett. Also, to answer the popular question about horse makeup: We painted Big John's legs and tail and ears to have black on them because his coloration wasn't like that. We used horse show touch-up which many people use in horse shows to hide things like scars and imperfections on their horses.
This cosplay photo was a huge combined group effort that was a labor of love by friends and fans of the Legend of Zelda series. Combining all aspects of art from photography to matte painting, we wanted to bring the Legend of Zelda to life as best we could in a final presentation. So far this has been incredibly rewarding, and we hope that those of you who view our work are brought a little bit more into the world of Hyrule through our art.
A special thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far! Without all of your support and kindness we wouldn't have been able to make this happen. We only hope that with what we produce, a smile is put on your face!

Hey Adella,
I've sent you messages before, underneath another name, offering to help finish your fanficif you recall, and trying to give encouragement. I am glad to see so many people appreciate all the hard work you guys have been doing. You deserve it. If I had the means, I would donate a hundred thousand dollars to you guys. Alas, I can't.
Wes looks good as the new look. Sorry about all that stuff with Lune. While we await to see further evidence of hard work and talent from you guys, I assure you we will enjoy these. As far as I am concerned, it's the best fan work out there!
All the best.

It is incredible it looks sooo realistic. Death Mountain looks soo real. The only thing i dislike somewhat is that Link's shield is a lttle too big.

If you take a look at how Link looks in the game, his shield is HUGE on him. The proportions of our shield match exactly the proportions in the game That should put your worries aside.

Beautiful! I just ADORE that dress. The purple is brilliant and the way it gets darker towards the bottom only adds depth to the emotion. I just love all of these pictures!

I am honestly not a Legend of Zelda fan, I haven't played the game so I don't really have that affinity for it. But I recognize the work you guys put into making this like the game. People with skills like yours are the ones that make a okay movie great. You two look really good together and sell the chemistry of the characters really well.

When I first saw the thumbnail of this picture I first thought it was from The Hobbit; maybe the Lonely Mountain did look similar.

Very well done, it loos so real. Is zora's fall just to the left of malons hand where the river disappears and the village that little white patch in the forest on the hill, way over one the left side?

I think that's Zora Falls on the right, and it's a little difficult without a hi-res version, but I believe Kakariko is at the base of the mountain, left of Malon.
I love all of your work. I've been following you all since this started appearing on the site. The only gripe I've ever had is the size of the shield being too big; I know this is a labor of love though so I don't mean any disrespect. ^_^ Thanks for bringing all of this to life, Sarah, and thanks to all those that work with you. I wish I could be a part of something like this.

I can put your gripe at ease. The shield is actually perfectly proportional.
[link] Here is a picture of Link wearing his shield. The shield is HUGE on him, well past his butt. The reason for this that we have figured, is that Link is a small dude, smaller than most Hylian soldiers. Naturally the shield, meant for a taller man, would be bigger to fit and protect the taller man. If you compare Adult Link's size to all the adult Hylians in the game, he is much smaller than them, even most of the women. When we made our shield, we wanted it to be the same size in comparison to how huge it is on Link's body in the game. So actually, the shield is not too big, so that should make you happy. Perhaps you just hadn't played the game in a while but we played it hundreds of times and when making the costumes, studied the game and the art extensively, and blended the two together.

Thank you. That all makes perfect sense. It has indeed been a few years since I played it. And I'm fairly confident now that the Hylian shield in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword was sized differently. I was probably thinking of those shields.
Side-note: this is one of the reasons (among many) that I've always loved Link as a hero. I'm a small guy, and I always figured Link was probably around my size at 5'6.5". ^_^ I could just be dreaming.

When a lot of people have gripes about the Link costume, it's because in their minds they're picturing Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess. EG: HIS PANTS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE WHITE TIGHTS, THEY'RE BROWN BAGGY PANTS!! ...... lol.
The TP Shield and SS shield are definitely fitted to Link a lot nicer! I believe Link is around 5'0 (I too also pictured him around 5'6-5'7). If you played the Wii Soul Calibur 2, with Link, he's roughly the same size as Talim, who is listed at 4'8. Crazy!

Yeah for the most part I'm aware of the basic clothing changes, but I appreciate all the info you've given me. I love the series and it's so nice to see other fans treating it this way, with such care. I had no idea he was so short though. I do have SC2 (I believe you meant Gamecube though, unless there's a port on the Wii) but never looked that much into it. I just thought it was great to have a game of that style featuring Link when the only other fighting game at the time with him was Smash Bros. Melee.

Adella In reply to orboflightning [2012-10-21 03:55:27 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I didn't either. I always suspected that Hylians in general were really short, but the SCII thing was shocking!! He was still sexy though and a badass. I still maintain the 5'7 thing. I'll fist bump to that!
Lol I said Wii didn't I. I play it on the wii now since my GC died long ago. Sign of the times huh?

orboflightning In reply to Adella [2012-10-22 12:51:11 +0000 UTC]
haha, yeah I suppose it is. I play my GC games on the Wii as well but my GC still works fine. I actually bought a Twilight Princess decal for it about two years ago, after it had of course been out for ten years. I love it. I'm sure once I get a WiiU I'll pack the Wii away and get the GC back out, since the WiiU isn't backwards compatible to the GC, and my GC has the Gameboy Player as a bonus. I don't even play much anymore, but it's nice knowing I have the option since I'll always have a soft spot for them.
Sorry if I rambled on there. Not many of my friends love games or Zelda as much as I do, and definitely none of the women I know. If I'm lucky enough to find a girl that knows anything about games it's always the same: she loves Yoshi and/or Sonic, and/or she occasionally plays CoD with her bf. -.-

Girls who like Yoshi and Sonic who play CoD sound pretty cool! You could easily find one like that and convert her. I'm ancient so I've been around long enough to have settled into my niche
