Description
I've figured that this is the most elegant way to continue the trio pattern. It would finish with generation 12, and have used each type (bar Normal), exactly 3 times.
The question is, in what order and combination do the lower types go in the missing places?
Of course each column of 3 should be interesting on its own just like the birds, beasts, golems, musketeers seemed like nice diverse groups of 3 elements each.
I could see it go this way:
VI: Water, Ground, Poison (lolwut.... maybe something like golems, but liquids: water, mud, acid)
VII:Ground/Dark, Poison/Dark, Ice/Dark (3 creepy monsters that live underground)
IX: Grass, Fire, Water (lol, starter types for legendaries? awesome)
X: Rock, Ground, Steel (minerals, all earth related)
XI: Grass/Dragon, Electric/Dragon, Poison/Dragon (awesome exotic dragons, fair enough.)

This is a very interesting take on balancing the trio pattern on the whole of generations.
But what about the other legendaries and trio masters, is there a way to order that in an elegant way as well?

I don't think so.
The epic (mascots) pokemon are never "more of the same", they always have a different role and kinds of members (2x680, 2x670+1x680, 3x680+1x720, 2x680+1x660->700), and their types don't seem to have any relation...I mean you could perhaps compare the /Flying ones and maybe how there is 2 trios of the Dragon type (but even there, one are secondary the other primary Dragons so its different again.).
So there is no standard or tradition that is repeated, they merely improve the previous idea or make something interesting on its own.
The Mythic Pokemon (Latis, Heatran, events...),
are simply powerful extras to spice up the competitive battling. Think of them as pseudo-legendaries (Dragonite, Tyranitar, Metagross...), just without lower stages, because thats what they are technically fully comparable to. 600 stats with interesting distribution, great types and useful movepools. There is too few of these to even look for any pattern (although their numbers are increasing), and you should have more luck finding one for the pseudo-legends.
