what if the next generation of Pokemon, instead of introducing another new set of traditional (Grass/Fire/Water) starters, used an already existing set of starters, but gave them regional variants with some unusual or exotic types?

I've invested way more thought into the type choices than it might seem on the surface :'D
I wanted to avoid using Grass/Fire/Water completely (after all, we have 8 entire families of each, and this is supposed to let other types get a piece of the cake), avoid repeating any type combinations, tried to use type combinations that are either unused, or if they already exist still have some fresh potential in them.
I also avoided using ANY secondary type that a specific starter has in its original form (with one exception: Rowlet/Dartrix, due to them losing the Flying type in the last stage anyway)
I also only gave a starter a type combination if I could at least imagine a basic concept/design for it that made sense to me in some way.

I did not make it a rule that the starters need to form a perfect weakness/resistance cycle (it is very limiting), but I tried to make their interactions interesting and not too one-sided anyway. Sometimes, there is even a progression of type match-ups between them as they gain types in stages to adapt and gain advantages or resistances to each other.
