Description
After seeing 's unused types list I decided to search for my own old pic of that and upload it.I made it so I had a better view on which types are missing combos and what exotic combinations could exist. Maybe it will help anyone in giving their fakemon such combinations, as I'm a bit disappointed when I see someone creating their own Pokemon, which is then another water/ground type or such <.<
The overdone (4 lines) combinations:
Grass/Poison
Rock/Ground
Water/Ground
Bug/Poison
Water/Ice
Rock/Water
-The idea behind the normal type is that the pokemon being of that type is a pokemon which doesn’t have any attributes that would make if of another type. It describes the absence of elemental features.
-A pokemon has a main type and a secodnary type (compare rhyhorns and geodudes types if you didn’t know the order has a role. While Geodudes line is Rock/Ground, Rhyhorns is the reverse, being a Ground type with Rock as the secondary type. You can look for other examples in pokedexes anywhere).
-It could be that a pokemon had a slight bit of relation to a single type but not enough to make it a full “elemental” pokemon. For example Bibarel who is not a full water pokemon but Normal/Water. They could have made it become a full Water pokemon upon evolution, since we saw that happening before, but they purposely kept it’s main type Normal.
-On the other hand, by this logic, the reverse is not possible (ie Water/Normal), since if a pokemon is mainly elemental its the contrary to what the Normal type is supposed to be, therefore it can’t be slightly Normal typed next to being a full other type already.
-As we know, the Flying type has never been used on it’s own. But if you understand what I said till now, you can see another fact about it. It’s also never been used as the main type of a Pokemon.
The closest to a pure flying would be Normal/Flying, which there has already been plenty of Pokemon of. But if all those were basically not of any elemental type and just slightly Flying, this implies to me that Flying is an exclusively secondary type. Some of the existing Flying Pokemon are also airborne the whole time, or for example Swablu whos wings are clouds, then how is a pure flying pokemon going to be a better candidate for it, if all those past ones were intentionally created as mainly not being associated with any elemental type (Normal) and just secondary Flying. If the creators didn’t decide it to be unable to describe a pokemon on it’s own, they would have made lots of pure flying pokemon till now.
Bird pokemon, like say Pidgey are not partially normal because birds are normal, since if they were, then for example Ponyta would be Normal/Fire since horses are normal. So there can't be a full flying pokemon, always just secondary.

Derp. Sorry about that...
Will you make one for 6th gen too?
And have you been hearing the hype for a new type?

I probably will, yea.
read some of my journals ;D Ive been contemplating Fairy type as a possibility for a while because of Sylveon.
But I doubt there will be any new type in the end.

Another reason why there aren't any pure flying types is because when roost is used it gets rid of it's flying type for that turn, so if a Pokemon such as fearow uses roost, for that turn it becomes a normal type. So if a pure flying type uses it, it would become the ??? Type. If you don't believe me, have a 1v1 battle with a friend, use roost with a normal flying, then get your friend to use a ground type move. However the flying type must be quicker.

You have to remove Bug / Rock.
Shuckle is Bug / Rock, not Rock / Bug.

aren't they the same both ways. Bug/Grass and Grass/Bug are the same aren't they? I think the games just put it in Alphabetical or at least i do.
Nevertheless very good for fakemon ideas. thanks.
I'm trying to develop a dragon/grass type.

Sableye is a sneaky Pokémon with ghost features, therefore it's primary type is Dark and it's secondary is Ghost.
Spiritomb is a ghost (108 ghosts lol) with dark-type features, making it Ghost/Dark, the reverse type of Sableyes. Check any online pokedex or the ingame one.
It goes like that even already from the first games, with Rhyhorn-line being Ground/Rock, but Geodude and Onix being Rock/Ground.
Dumb example:
Magcargo, a Fire/Rock Pokémon is magma with a pile of rocks on it's back, while
a Pokémon of the type Rock/Fire would rather be a pile of rocks with fire on it's back xDDD

Yes.
But there is 1 exception to this, fossil Pokémon. Even if noone would ever assume a fossil Pokémon to be of the Rock type, they always have it as their primary type.
Rock/Water - Kabuto,Omanyte
Rock/Flying - Aerodactyl
Rock/Grass - Lileep
Rock/Bug - Anorith
Rock - Cranidos
Rock/Steel - Shieldon
Altough reverse for Aerodactyl wouldn't make sense, it could still have been a Dragon/Flying type if it wasn't, because of it being a fossil Pokémon.

Oh and btw something interesting reagrding GF way of thinking:
They (unlike me) don't worry about adding another (or 2) Pokémon of the same combination in a new generation, even tough there are plenty of new combos left.
But I found out that they seem to have set a limit of 4 Pokémon-lines.
Except for the very usual ones like Normal/Flying and Bug/Flying (IMO they probably won't stop at 4 Dragon/Flying either)
I find such stuff interesting.
When I first thought about that I was sure it wouldn't hold true and checked some combinations I thought were overused. Guess what:
water+ice :4
rock+ground :4
grass+poison :4
water+ground :4
water+rock :4
others are not more than 4 also, except the mentioned normal & bug flyers

Oops, I tend to think combinations are the same whichever way around and by the looks of it this may've not been the case when constructing this list, sorry for any inconvenience!
And making a fakemon with an exotic type combination? I wouldn't have it any other way!

well and the problem is... there cant be a noral combinaton even if ther is a water/normal combination...
because a normal + fire is still fire... or not?
And i think if there is allready a fire/ground, the ground/fire isnt really unused or am i wrong with this?
But wow, much work... i have one two...

The primary type is more important.
For example:
Sableye Dark/Ghost
Spiritomb Ghost/Dark
the first is a Dark pokemon with some ghost-like features, while the second is a ghost with some sneaky attacks (Dark is named Evil type in jap. btw)
another:
Flygon Ground/Dragon
Garchomp Dragon/Ground
Or Houndour Dark/Fire and not Fire/Dark etc.
Normal Pokemon with secondary types (like Normal/Fire) are ok. It's a Pokemon which doesn't fully "employ" in it's secondary type, therefore still being Normal.
The other way around it doesn't make sense anymore, as a being a true Fire type makes it too unregular to be considered a Normal Pokemon.
I'll mark those whichs reverse combinations are already used and reupload. But no there is no Ground/Fire Pokemon yet.
Camerupt is a true Fire Pokemon with some Ground type abilities.
