The Helvian advance had been so swift that several units of Meltinian defenders had been cut off behind the Helvian lines. The female soldiers of the Helvia Logistics Support Unit had been deployed rapidly behind the advancing tanks to set up communications posts, supplies centres and medical facilities deep in overrun Meltinian territory. One of the jobs of the women was also to round up the isolated pockets of desperate enemy soldiers and stragglers. Most of the Meltinians surrendered as soon as the grey and white clad female troops appeared, although some resisted and had to be liquidated.
Within a matter of weeks, each logistics post also held nearly 100 male Meltinian prisoners, guarded usually by less than 20 Helvian women. To ensure control was maintained, the Meltinians were forced to strip naked and to be bound and manacled at all times, even meal times, which the men found particularly humiliating.
General Antonio Silva, cuffed behind his back and with his ankles chained together, protested in vain to his guard, Sergeant Helga Weiss. “This is against the Geneva Convention, ma’am,” the distraught officer wailed, “I demand you let me speak to your commanding officer!”
“I AM the commanding officer here!” laughed Helga contemptuously. “And at least you have your own cell, General, unlike the rest of your boys. Now shut up!”
With that she aimed a sharp kick into the ribs of the sobbing naked male prisoner with her spurred leather thigh length boot. “Useless!” Helga remarked as the enemy officer, softened by weeks in his now conquered HQ, rolled around the floor in agony.
