The three men scarpered out the back door as Matron Sawyer and her team of three Ward Sisters bore down on them. In their panic the thieves dropped their bag of loot and as they turned the corner, to their horror, they ran slap bang into a line of uniformed nurses: Sawyer and her team had taken a short cut!
The three intruders stood non plussed faced by this row of determined looking women. Eddie, their leader, weighed things up. Although outnumbered, he and his boys could probably muscle their way past these females, but what if there was a fight? Would they really want to add assaulting nurses to their breaking and entering charge sheet?
Wearily, and despite the humiliation involved, Eddie signaled to his guys that they had better give up. All three sullenly placed their hands on their heads and surrendered to the women.
Matron Sawyer beamed happily. “Let’s get them tied, girls.” she urged the Sisters. Eddie’s eyes closed with shame at those five short words of female triumph.
