The half covered face and the gas-mask are not an entirely new take on character creation; however the use of brush strokes, shading and detail make this piece an excellent work of art.
The gas-mask is synonymous with war, tyranny, resistance(or rebels), and almost instantly draws those references to mind from current movies, games and film. The "Emo" hair-style signals the thoughts of a "tortured-soul" theme common with the current generation. These are not unique in of themselves, yet they are the essential set up for the rest of the picture; the face, and more importantly, the eye.
When the viewer first looks closer at the picture the shading immediately draws the focus to the lonely pale eye. The cold, emotionless, mechanical dead eye. This most singular detail is the center of the entire work. The artist has given the most attention to this area of the work. The lack of detail emphasized on the hair, cap and background all force the eyes of the viewer to look directly into the gaze of the subject of the painting. This gravitating eye contact starts and centers the viewers' train of thought.
The viewer begins to then wonder, "Who is this?" The open circuits behind the edges of the mask, the hit of an eye-patch, the decaying blue veins, and the sunken bagginess of the eyes become evident. "Is this person still entirely human?" "Do they still need the mask, or is it the last shred of their humanity?"
The service cap on the character show that the cause of the situation was not a punishment, but rather a "reward" for undying loyalty. "Does she regret her decisions of fealty?" The blood stain on the wall and on the character call to mind acts of violence, the eye we see remains emotionless. "Is she tormented by the actions she has taken, perhaps forced by something beyond her own will?" "Is she the victim or the cold blooded emotionless killer?"
The work causes such an impression on the viewer that they seek to answer these questions. Each possibility leaves more questions than it answers, and by doing so, it causes those who view it to examine themselves as well as the person in the picture. This is why it is such a great piece; it seamlessly ties together the emotions of empathy, fear, horror, and despair and evokes them in the viewer.

It seems a man/women is wearing a oxygen mask which could symbolize many things. War, end of the world, ect. The background is greyish but has a very clear red stream. This "stream" is throughout the person's head/hair. It adds a very beautiful touch to the portrait. There is a scar above this person's brow. It could show hardship, abuse, pain or really anything.
The hat has a lot of attention, which I like. It seems very symbolic but I cannot identify the symbol on it. Perhaps it means something in this person's world they live in.
The color upon the face is very beautiful and adds so much the to piece.
This image to me reminds me of war but it could very well be commonly depicted as many things. It can be an easy relation to how people may be feeling.
The way this painting is done is very beautiful. The brush strokes are so visible and it adds such texture to the piece. It's very inspiring and very moving. Very good work.

Parece... ¿Una mujer con una mascara de oxigeno? Tal vez eso demuestra nuestro futuro, Un apocalipsis donde nuestras propias armas apuntaran hacia nosotros mismos , no podemos respirar ya que si lo hacemos, las balas son disparadas...
Si lo que veo bien en su frente muestra una correa, y se oculta un "algo" por sus cabellos, cosa que me llama la atención porque demuestra que ha tenido un pasado difícil y ha tenido dificultades por lo cual, se puede pensar que ha estado en una guerra, remarcando lo anterior sobre las armas.
Sus cicatrices delatan dolor, sufrimiento ¿Tal vez? Con esa fría mirada uno simplemente piensa que ha pasado algo tormentoso.
Su gorro me hace recordar a una religión, que si no mal recuerdo son los judíos, sin embargo, ese símbolo, no logro identificarlo, por lo cual, al parecer una calavera de una forma muy extraña, tal vez muestre que los judíos se han "perdido". Aunque mi punto de vista en un inicio fue de un gobierno capitalista, y ella era una militar a su cargo, cosa por la cual, ese gorro sería parte de su uniforme.
Si no veo mal, tiene un fondo blanco, que me hace ver que es pavimento, tal como lo es de una calle, una vereda o algo parecido, que lleve hormigón encima. Si las lineas rojas están pintadas en eso, demuestra que fue herida, y está siendo arrastrada, muerta por su mirada perdida y esos trazos celestes que parecen ser lagrimas.
Me gustan este tipo de imágenes que, cuando son mostradas se las ve "planas" pero detrás de ellas tienen una historia muy profunda y oculta.

Creo que si estuviese siendo arrastrada por el pavimento, su pelo aparecería más "esparcido" y no tan caído. Quizá esté detrás de una pared donde se realizan ejecuciones. Quizá la vayan a ejecutar.
El gorro, más que judío, parece militar, a mi parecer.

I like the fact that the attention is drawn to her eye. A cold, lifeless expression in it and tells the tale of someone who is tired of war or of suffering. Very good work.

This is really well drawn. Did you lineart this?? No difference if you did or not, but It sort of makes me think of what us humans would look like after the zombie apocalypse happens. The colours are very effective, and it all blends together really well.
