Sooooooo, ta-da! This piece I've really been wanting to show you guys for a long time! It took me AGES to get this right. I'm exhausted from it!This is from a scene in my fanfiction "The Stronger Evil" (which where it is right now, will be a future chapter in the distance), where Shendu is sat in his cell thinking of the woman who stole his heart (Valerie) and how their relationship appears doomed. He sits and thinks forlornly on all that might have been.
And yeah, I may-or-may-not have been inspired by a BRILLIANT movie that recently came out *cough*beautyandthebeast*cough*

But anyway, I really love the way this came out - for a long time this seemed to be completely stuck and I didn't know how to make it look right, but I'm sooooooooooooooooooooo happy with how it turned out in the end! I hope you guys like it to!

You know what's great? When I finally saw the new Beauty and the Beast and that song for the Beast came up, my thoughts instantly went to this story. It fits Shendu and Valerie's relationship perfectly, and it's great that Shendu in your story feels so natural in his caring for Valerie. Granted he still has to prove to himself and her that he actually does love her for who she is, not on the romanticized way in which he views her as his other. In any case, I'm so glad this story is still going strong and I can't wait to see more!

I gasped OUT LOUD when I saw this in my profile's Watch section!! Super-awesome, I LOVE IT!!
This pic is beautiful - despite what you previously said about not being good with colours, Shendu's colours here are just perfect. Your use of shading and that basic greyish-transitioning background also makes that green-and-bronzeish colour scheme appear both dull and brilliant at the same time! Which for that matter really fits with the melancholic mood of this scene. I also love Valerie's dress, and the blueish background that she's in.
Valerie's face does look seriously awkward; looking and thinking right now, she reminds me of the gnarly ghost-woman from 'Mama.' Another complaint I do have is that Shendu's eyes look quite awkward, with the pronounced-lined shaded lids and the actual red eyes undernetah that barely have any outline - I genuinely took a moment to see where his eyes were, thinking at first that the shaded lids were them. I love the expression you've drawn on Shendu's face here though - it's quite clear what he's feeling right now - and speaking from personal experience, his really isn't the easiest face to draw subtle expressions onto!!
HELLZ YEAH to more Valerie and Shendu art!! I'm not gonna say no to that!!! To be honest, what I'd like to see is more 'Heart of Fire' art from you.
Anyway, awesome piece, really good to see some more art from you as always, and really good use of colours on Shendu despite what you said previously!

I know Val's expression was not the best I could've done, but I wanted her more abstract. This is more what Shendu's imagining. Her looking back as she walks away...
And Shendu's eyes in the actual cartoon, are not that pronounced in where they're looking, so I tried to get a sense of that. But obviously that didn't work.
But Heart of Fire? Maybe I can work with that
