The 3D model aspect..I think they think these are fake

I think they refer to lens distortions. Some 3D artists suggest that references (for 3d only) would turn out better if you snap the model about 7-10m away and use a zoom - to fake an orthographic image. However one can always use photoshop to correct the lens distortions.
