I think my ideal set up would be one light to the side with some reflected light or something soft on the other side because I don't want too dark shadows. Right now I frequently just use the flash which sort of flattens everything but it's the best way to catch the action for me with everything is auto and I have no additional lighting :'DĀ

well, I think if you put reflective surfaces, like white walls or something like that around, you get the natural amount of reflection with a single big and distant light source, which is the best to get a single proyected shadow, the problem with more than one artificial light, is that you get 2 proyections, which is the hard thing to draw for most cases.
