It'd be nice if you could do some shots where the blades are held so the actual blade goes along the arm instead of away from it.

Similar, yes, but instead of under the arm the blade would just be held the opposite way so the blade would go towards the body instead of away. It's a good defensive way of holding the blade, it also makes it easier to flank an enemy without leaving yourself open.
