I've had this incomplete on my hard drive for a good few months. Now that my boyfriend went back to law school and my social life has hit a brick wall, I've had time to finally finish it. Hurrah! As always, comments are appreciated.

Oh don't flatter me, Reopened Wounds was a travesty that makes Twilight look readable >.< Seriously the only reason its still UP is because I'm fairly certain fans of it would murder me. Β But yeah, "Avenger" (working title that I never changed....) and its sequel Lilies (Also a working title I will probably fail to change) while its a sequel 'Lilies' can also be a stand alone. Β I've been trying really really hard to stay true to the time period and (to a point) mythology. However, I also have to work inside of the Disneyverse.Β
Nontheless, I am quite flattered that my work inspired you to try your own hand at writing. That's quite a compliment! Another piece I have up is Disney what-ifs. readers pose a what-if and I write a short one-shot to answer it. Β Though some of the requests are getting disturbing.... in like, the FBI should raid that man's house disturbing, and I refuse to touch the topics some of them have requested.

Yeah, it's definitely a challenge trying to merge Disney with the real myths, but it's also really fun. I have my own personal library on Greek mythology which is always helpful - including a kick-ass genealogy chart of anyone ever mentioned in mythology.
As for the requests, I've had a few peculiar ones, none of which I can justify drawing. People, man. People are so weird. - my two cents

It's fun trying to tie in mythology, esp with how mysterious Disney leaves Meg's past. A lot of people do their thing with it but I take it as a chance to cram some mythology in there and kill off her family the way the myth did. I think I'm a horrible person... Β I don't have as much research as you do, which is unfortunate. But I try nonetheless to stay true to mythology and the time period. I've mentioned I wanted to say @#$% it to house servants and such, just didn't think even if it was a societal norm I can't picture Herc having slaves or servants.Β

speaking of requests, how much do you charge for commissions? Just curious if I could afford to hire someone to do some fanart to pair with my story. I'd do it myself if I could draw those two worth a damn.

In college, we did a drinking game to one of the Twilight films: a Jell-O shot every time Kristen Stewart bit her lip. We had to stop that about 20 minutes into the movie.
Once I'm finished with my story, I'm going to make an index with all of the mythology references I made ... because there are a lot. It really, truly, utterly irks me when people make up names for people that are actually in Greek myth. Like, naming Meg's dad some random Greek-ish name when her father is Creon. I dunno, I've just studied it so much in school and in my free time that I get offended when people don't try to even use the real myths. Kind of ironic considering how much Hercules deviates from the real thing ... I was actually planning on doing - probably a drabble - on Meg's childhood leading up to some of the flashbacks, references in my story, but I really don't need another thing to not finish.Β

I get what you mean. Its half the reason I hate my old story, I started it before I knew a lot about mythology. Now I make sure to look shit up (like in the latest chapter of Perspective when choosing which Underworld river to reference) and things like that. Also, how about when people put modern things into it. like showers? I'm guilty of that with RE. But I've been careful with new stories. I've even tried looking up diet and stuff. that review Sheep keeps pointing out crap I mess up, which I actually like cause then I can fix it and avoid it in the future.Β
And that's a fair price for commissions. If I manage to get some cash I'll hit you up. Tough economy plus working for a company with some serious budget cuts... Β Though I would love some illustrations but that is up to your discretion

Yeah, Sheep can be a real stickler. She (I'm assuming it's a "she") tried to school me on the distance from Euboea to Boeotia. I'm like, I know the distance. Not only did I look up the actual miles, but I used Google maps to calculate the walking distance. Yeah, I went that far. In the end, I had to use some artistic licensing otherwise it just wouldn't have worked.

Occasionally Sheep has schooled me on things I've researched beforehand. it's also really hard to keep true to the time period and still make sense (I've had characters say stuff like 'what the hell!' even though 'hell' isn't what they believed in, I know its tartarus or the feilds of punishment)
I shall leave the art up to your discretion, and if money magically appears in my bank account that isn't earmarked for my student loans I shall consider commissioning you
