The ship was first called the Le Progress built in 1914. It began life as a ferry in the St Lawrence River. It was converted into a floating restaurant in 1991 and was rebuilt to resemble the La Grande Hermine (The Big Weasel) The french ship Jacques Cartier sailed along the St Lawrence in 1535. The owner had little money and had to park the ship where it now floats. In 2003 arsonists set fire to it.

Is this that fake shipwreck near St. Catharines? I believe it is. You can tell it's fake because it's in such good condition, and it's made entirely of metal. Call me crazy, but I don't think sailing ships of the day were constructed of steel. Anyways, nice shot!

It is not a fake shipwreck. It is an imitation of a tall ship, but it is in fact a real shipwreck. The vessel used to be a restaurant/casino before it was moored where it now stands, derelict and barely floating. Although now of course, it's all burned out because some hooligans set fire to it
