I actually saw that movie again recently. Damn,I didn't realize how much I missed it. If only Disney was this good. Not that they aren't occasionally. But not as often, especially in the last 5~10 years.

I really love how you did Miguel's expression. It's so true to the character and original style!
The paper you used is also very nice. The color and texture work well with the idea of the map.

Thanks! Miguel's expression made me so happy because even though it's not an exact replica of the style, it still shows his character pretty well I think. The paper is actually a texture I got off of dA, which reminds me I need to find the original stock of it. I'm glad you like it and hurray for another El Dorado fan!

And yes, you really did get his personality! He's all enthusiastic and happy. Which is why we love him. And you captured Tulio very well also. He's all skeptical and slightly annoyed. Which is why we love him. XD

Y-yeah... Sadly I find it really difficult to draw on paper like that in reality. I erase alot you see, so I tend to rub alot of the layers off and it just doesn't have a good feel under my pencil for some reason ><;;
But thankfully we have photoshop in which we can create lovely texturized artwork without having to bugger with the real stuff. 8D;;;
Why thank you! I also agree with you of course, I even loved Chel as much I wanted to hate her for causing the whole dramafest but she's just got such an awesome design and it's just kind of impossible to hate on her. D=

OH~ Dreamworks 2D, Nazo misses you D,:> Prince of Egypt too--that was BEAUTIFUL. I need to look up the concept artist for these, because Dreamworks' 2D drawing style was so unique...
WHY DID THEY GO ON TO CRAPPY 3D D,B [no really, I'm not a fan of Dreamworks' 3D works, not that 3D itself is crap] I have a sneaking suspicion that the same artist had something to do with this Kung Fu Panda nonsense...
Butyes! Excellent interpretation, I didn't notice the eyebrow-gradients, but now I want to!! Also want to practice them myself [sunken eyes are so prettyyy] Tulio's jawline is too unreal, this is why it's so hard to grasp XD I love it thoughhh~ Very nice Miguel too, I have trouble with square jawlines. I love how wide his smile is XD

Dreamworks 3D is just not the same. Aside from the Shrek sequels, they've been entertaining but for their budget and what I know Dreamworks is capable of; it's really disappointing.
While I know I should love 3D animation it's just never touched my heartstrings like 2D has done consistently (Pixar's features are just amazing even if you judge them as just films). There is just something about 2D and Dreamworks had some great 2D features. I have Prince of Egypt and Joseph that I'll be revisiting soon (I buy old 2D movies on VHS at a second-hand store and they were in the latest batch I bought).
Why thank you and nevermind the eyebrow gradients; they are just one of those needless details that I inevitably get hooked on but other people never notice. I see what you mean about his jawline but even his eyes and eyebrows were really difficult to control; the slightest change in width and they'd look totally blown out of proportion. It's very easy to make these guys go from their original designs to a bad Disney sequel in a milisecond.
Even though I hated the role she got stuck with in the movie, Chel really had the most stunning design both in appearance and mannerisms for a leading lady in a cartoon; her curves just keep going and going and going and she was so tan and-- Gah, Dreamworks had the best girls! D=
El Dorado's characters had some great expressions, Miguel pulled some amazing facial expressions and nothing was more fun to draw then his smile that goes a mile. xD I tried to draw him "neutral" later on and it didn't go so well. More practice is in need!
