With the recent announcement I wanted to make something to explain where I stand. While I was doing so Lucky came over and wanted to make art too. And I can't say no to her so I gave her some materials too.

I will be participating in the "Sound of Silence" log off as explained in the linked Journal below. I decided to do this because even though I know it's a long shot, on the off chance enough people do it and it saves the site we know I'm willing to do it. Plus if nothing else, it's practice for the actual change. Because without RPing I know I won't be around nearly as much as I am now. I am not a professional artist. I did not come here to be one. I came here for a fun casual place to post fun art and meet new people. And for the past 6 years I have gotten more of that then I ever dreamed. I love DA. But this new Eclipse update is going to take that all away from me and from a lot of my friends. Not only is it harder to navigate but it also making RPing impossible with no Flat View for comments and disappearing comments after only a few replies. The personalization aspects of the home pages are gone, there's no real rhyme or reason to the new layout, and it's just not what DA is supposed to be. I don't know about all of you, but I know I didn't sign up for DA because it was like other art sites. I signed up because it was different.

If these changes go through in their current state, I don't know for sure what will happen to my page or what I will choose to do. That's why I've decided to join the Silence Movement and I encourage you all to do the same. The fact of the matter is, websites like this make money through ads and pageviews. Aside from the people who pay for core, that's their main source of income. And we all know that the only way to really get through to a large company is to hit them where it hurts. The Wallet. So if we can get thousands of people to join this movement and just not used DA for 3 days, that might actually turn some heads. I know it's a long shot and might not do any good. But I don't want us to be just a few people short of making the kind of impact we want to. Besides, if we all didn't do it because we think it'll fail, then it's sure to fail. So I ask you all to honestly consider following this movement and working to saving our site.

The Sound Of Silence - DA StatementSo Eclipse is Coming
I'd like to organize a proactive event to show DA the possible results of a permanent Eclipse change-over. Instead of deactivating your accounts for good, or indefinitely boycotting the site, I'd like to make a Statement of Silence for those Users against Eclipse. Starting May 1st, I will not be active on Deviantart. I will not submit new deviations, journals or even visit the site for 3 Days time. From 12:00AM CST May 1st to 12:00am May 4th. (3 days) I ask all other Users who wish to keep old Deviantart to join me in this statement of silence.
Not Only Is Eclipse Difficult to Navigate, It is so close to Plagiarism it isnt funny. How they aren't in a Lawsuit with Artstation is beyond me!

And in case this doesn't work, I'm excited to learn that an alternative to DA is already in progress! This new project is still in it's infancy but it sounds very promising! A site being made for people like us by people like us! Should this project shape up to be everything they're claiming it will be, and DA ignores our pleas to at least postpone the eclipse program, I'll be moving myself to this new site. I won't delete the stuff that is here or anything crazy like that, but I will stop posting here and take my business elsewhere. So read through this new development and if you agree with me that it has potential to be the answer to this problem, join me in supporting these amazing people.

This is our home, we have burrowed roots here that span over a decade for some, and we have amassed our watcherbase with painstaking effort! We've earned out badges and uploaded hundreds of our deviations and put so much effort into our groups! We've forged meaningful connections and found a network of friends here, a place of support and encouragement. But for some, Eclipse is a dealbreaker. It ruins dA. Yet, we need our community, we can't lose each other. Right?
This is not another rant journal or petition.
This is action. We are doing something about it.
So, we are making a new art site. It isn't as good as dA, it's better. It's hella better. We are talking about the features we've all dreamed of, what we've always asked for but never been heard by dA staff about. We're talking about everything we all want to keep, but so much more.
