Young Brock and Onix! Yay, finally no more Manaphy to look at whenever I come onto my page! XD Doesn't seem like the sun is getting to either one of em, huh? ^_^ Wow, I'm quite happy with this piece~ The version I was going to put up around a month ago was CRAP compared to this (so I'm kinda glad I waited- to get the thought juices flowin). The BG is VERY close to how I wanted it to look, and I think I have the humid look in the sky/land down packed. Brock is about... 7 or 8 years old in this one. Onix, was the toughest one to CG out of the two x___@;;.. SOOOOO let me know whatcha think- I'm working on 2 pics to upload while I speak...er..type.. *cough* XD;;;Edit!- Resize

*ahh* Finally I'm at leisure to come back and comment on this one, like I'd wanted to do before. deviantART sure keeps me busy, is all I can say.
Anyway, this picture is so totally *kyuuuute*~! Rocket fan though I be I have absolutely no problem in admitting you've made Brock absolutely adorable here, with his sweet, giggling little squinty-eyed self and all. I actually really like the glowy lighting in this pic, because to me it brings to mind a really hot, sweltering day with a sky full of bright sun and maybe just a hint of cloud cover in places (you know, like when there's threatening to be a thunderstorm in a few hours or something). The ground with its sparse grass and shadows also came out very nicely, in my opinion, and makes one think of parched landscapes.
I think my favorite thing about this picture is Onix, however. I think you really did manage to convey the look of a stony hide and especially on its face... of course, its equally (and uncharacteristically) happy expression is also threatening to give me an attack of the cutes as I'm typing this...
All in all, a very lovely pic!

Well, unless I'm in a bit of a rushed state I like to try and comment on all the things that I like about a picture, as well as (if applicable) things that could maybe stand to be improved. I know I appreciate getting such feedback myself, so yeah.
^.^! Oooh, and I've gotta say I think that's a totally scrumptious idea! You oughtta do all the main cast, if not seperately (as that would be a lot of work) then at least in a group shot! How sweet would that be...

Loads of character and personality, with both Brock and Onix draw very well. I think the slope of the ground seems steeper in some areas than others, and that's down to the cast shadows. I also think the lighting is bit too glowy and you lose definition as a result. Make sure that the sharp outlines aren't bleached out by your lighting, and you could probably do with toning it down a little. Still, a cute piece of work that's full of life!

Yea, I thought maybe I might've over did it with the glowiness. I'm glad you pointed that out. I wanted to make the ground look distant in the background and I guess that wasn't pulled off that well either. Well, just gotta practice it more. Thanks for the crit ^_^

Glad to be of assistance! I think to help the background look distant you could try reducing the saturation and lightening of your colours little by little as they go further back, and making them less prominent, possibly be reducing the difference between light and shade. It's something to experiment. As for the shadows, I think reducing the size of them far back by Onix's tail would be helpful for the perspective on the background. These kinds of backgrounds can be difficult and I admit to having trouble with them myself sometimes! But I think experimenting with the kind of suggestions I've made, and having a look at perspective out your own window (observation is always very helpful I find
