WOT stands for: The Wheel Of Time / Epic Fantasy Book Series.
A fade is actually a slang term in the story referring to an eyeless soldier of darkness. They are creepy as hell! But what is more intriguing is that your particular Fade is a good discription of what I had in mind / or similar.
