_______________________________________________________________________
Please note that this is not a legitimate application suitable for any RP group, it is simply a biography of where Azre has ended up so far after SoC ended, so this doesn't have the NPC app background and will go in the general art folder.
I just felt like doing this because I've been RPing with and developing him a lot lately, and his old app is really old and has some incorrect data in it. |D
It is very long, and therefore I took out some parts and just linked to separate docs. I don't expect anyone to read this, I'm simply just putting it here in case anyone wants to know more about him. =u=b
He's rather op now because the baes I rp with are gloriously overkill and I have to keep up /shot
(Old app version)
Without further ado~

Name: Azre Shelar
Nicknames (who gave it): Moon Child (Management)
Age: 23 (I still call him a teen)
-Estimated lifespan: approximately 1700 years
Birthday: January 17th, AoC -13 (1993)
Sex: Male
Height: 170cm / ~5’7”
Weight: ~63kg / 140lbs
Blood Type: Zion(Drow) equivalent of O- (because I apparently had this recorded in my random notes, so sure, why not, the more you know)
Former Faction: Ares
Job: Specter Member, Replication/Enhancements Craftsman, Blackmarket Worker
Voice Sample: (Haven’t found one yet)
Race: Drow
- A type of elf hailing from Ares, they have mistakenly been associated with being evil primarily because of this background.
- As elves they share similar traits to others of that generalized race, but a drow’s key characteristics are black skin and white hair, which can have various sub tones while remaining under those categorizations. Their eye color ranges across the spectrum, but is never pale. There are rare cases where a drow will be born with dark hair or pale eyes, but they are considered cursed and will be killed quickly.
- Typical culture for drows includes a refined, albeit reclusive, society that is often be said to be very strict.
- Most of the race is nocturnal to some degree
- Proficiency with shadow magic (as in manipulating literal shadows) is common.
History:
(See full history here. Warning: It’s long.)
Personality:
<11:
Having locked away his emotions as a reaction to how his mother was raising him, Azre was very hollow, sickeningly polite, empty, and fairly obedient. While he externally showed a rather calm, proper, and measured child, he had no emotion behind it, which often gave him an eerie aura.
11-19:
After getting taken in by Rashad, Azre started out in the same state as before, but ended up becoming an emotional mess once Rashad broke the lock down. He got distressed easily, and generally fluctuated drastically emotionally. He was mildly afraid of his magic, not knowing how to control it at all and at first not even knowing that it was his. Painful emotions often just ended up making him feel more distressed, and he clung to Rashad most of the time so that he could help him figure things out.
Gradually Rashad coaxed him into being more independent, but still kept an eye on him to make sure he didn’t get too hurt. At that point Azre had taken an interest in developing magic further, having learned that he was already quite talented with it, and he also became fascinated with stories of Zion before the Eclipse Seal. From said stories Azre ended up developing the belief that Earthra was essentially Paradise, and while he wanted to see it part of him ‘knew’ that he never would.
The more and more he interacted with his second family the more he gradually slid into a rather cocky apparent personality, and became someone who loved to play word games with people and play around with those he was close to. While it looked like teasing and pranking, among family it was just affectionate playing around. Towards other people though it was actually a test of their patience, seeing how long the would last being around him before they got fed up and ditched him.
Present:
Azre ended up developing an obviously sectionalized way of interacting with others. He’s afraid of being ditched by people he cares about, so he refuses to care about someone that doesn’t care about him in an equal manner. Consequently he’ll test anyone that he starts to like to make sure they actually do care enough to stick with him despite him being troublesome. He’ll ignore strangers, politely interact with those he’s doing business with, be a little sneeringly aloof to acquaintances, start pranking and teasing those he likes, become increasingly bratty and annoying the more he likes someone, then at some point he’ll just stop and mellow out completely around them while considering them to be family. For those he’s comfortable with, and who have become family to him he’s rather quiet and placid around them. Often times he doesn’t say a lot either, for at that point both sides are usually comfortable with each other’s silence when it happens, and doesn’t mind lying against someone. He actually really likes hugs and cuddles too, but he’s awkward with them since he still has residual trauma from his mom that being soft will get you killed and he hasn’t managed to completely convince himself that it’s okay to be mushy sometimes.
Abilities/Weapons:
Shadow magic: The ability to manipulate and create shadows, creating various forms based on the user’s imagination and skill, and the ability to travel to and from the Shadow Realm for those with a high enough skill. Azre’s obvious strong point when he’s actually using it, for he tends to belittle his ability when he’s around strangers unless he has to do otherwise to keep himself or those he cares about. Labeled as a child prodigy, Azre’s raw ability with magic is far above average. But while that makes him powerful it also gives him a lot of trouble since his problems are unconventional and therefore harder to handle. At this point in time his raw ability is much higher than what he’s learned to handle and therefore he has to be careful to keep it under control. Which he usually does by simply practicing and keeping his magic levels low enough to stay in his range of control, but sudden drastic emotional fluctuations can disturb that balance.
(For more detailed info, see here)
Acrobatics and Dexterity: Azre’s second most notable feature is his flexibility and balance on top of his ability to use his feet almost like hands. He deliberately doesn’t build up a lot of muscle like his uncle because it gives him too much weight and hinders his movement speed. It’s not uncommon for someone to catch him doing a handstand on a stool or wire in order to reach something with his feet, or jumping off the railing on the second floor instead of using the stares.
Martial Arts: While Azre’s strength is definitely magic, he refuses to be completely reliant on it and therefore has picked up an alternative form of defense and offense. Unfortunately he’s completely inept with using any form of weapon, and therefore can only use his own body for that alternative. He usually accents it with shadows to help protect himself from getting cut or the likes when facing people who can use weapons, but he’s not dependent on that extra defense.
Poison/Drug Expertise: Rashad took care to make sure Azre knew how to detect, accurately label, and counteract every toxin or drug he’s exposed to. Naturally he can’t learn everything about everything, but his knowledge is still quite extensive. This includes being able to use the correct counter agents, and mix up the proper dosage of a drug with the characteristics he wants it to have. He works best with sedatives and counter agents, but has a hard time making most negative affect toxins/drugs.
Poison/Drug Resistance: Because of his uncle and occupation, Azre has developed immunity to most toxins and drug to varying degrees. It’s rather difficult to poison or sedate him, and he’s usually still fairly coherent and logical even when drugged with some form of hallucinogenic or the like. Consequently this also means that generic medicines don’t work very well on him, and adjustments to the dosage usually has to be made.
People Reading: Being trained as a spy, con artist, infiltrator, etc. Azre has learned to read people and manipulate them through words and sometimes actions. It isn’t perfect considering how variable people are, but he does fairly well at it. His ability to smother his own emotions without dampening his external appearance assists with this.
Devil’s Luck: While it wasn't as prominent when he was child, now it's pretty obvious that he's inherited Maher's luck. One source of proof being how none of his major veins were broken when Rashad stabbed his arms, and he still has a surprising amount of functionality with his arms despite the damage.
Weaknesses:
Shadow Affinity: With such a close connection to the Shadow Realm, and therefore a high shadow attribute, Azre is notably vulnerable to light magics and attributes. His race compounds on that. While he’s quite capable of being out in the sunlight, he usually wears some sort of hood or sun hat to keep his eyes shaded when in particularly bright areas.
Weapons Failure: He can’t use any form of physical weapons no matter how much time he spends trying to learn. It reflects in his magic by him not forming his shadows into obvious weapon-esque forms.
Emotional Handicap: Because of his first years of life being stuck in a state where he felt very little emotion, Azre is rather stupid when it comes to dealing with his own emotions. He can read what other people are feeling based on what he can see and hear, but when it comes to what he feels most of the time he can’t even figure out what it is. He unconsciously tries to suppress everything he feels, yet also not do so, so he remains in this awkward range of somewhat feeling what normal people do. He has to be careful though, for his emotions are linked to his magic via his soul, and therefore too much emotional unrest can, and usually does, disrupt his magical balance. Which can make him even more distressed and the effect snowballs. When he does completely shut down to the point he was when he was a child he becomes hollow, polite, and rather submissive, leaving him easier to manipulate.
Scarred Forearms: He has scars running down the length of his forearms from a time when Rashad was being controlled and stabbed shadows through them. He was lucky enough that no major veins were hit, and everything was stitched together well. However, the damage has left his grip and movement semi-impaired, and the scar tissue is soft and easily damaged again. While he’s always favored kicks over punches, this offset increased by a few ticks after his arms were damaged.
Panic Triggers: So far there are two things, or actually people, that will cause Azre to panic when confronted with them: his mother, and Facey. At this point in time Azre doesn’t even know what his mom looks like, for as a kid he was taught that it was improper for children to look at the eyes of someone who was superior to them. Therefore he never looked at his mom’s face, and has forgotten what she looks like at all. Instead his brain has filled the space with some sort of black form with white hair and fully red eyes, and he often feels like he’s choking when talking, or even thinking about her. For Facey she simply managed to make him feel completely helpless, and he’s afraid that she’ll kill him on a whim if she felt like it without much effort at all.
Extras:
He doesn’t like wearing shoes at all and won’t whenever he can get away with it.
While Rashad sleeps whenever there’s daylight, Azre’s sleep pattern is shifted about 6 hours from his. He wakes up at about noon and usually goes to bed several hours after midnight. He doesn’t have Rashad’s strict aversion to the sunlight and is willing to go out in the daytime without complaint. Although he usually dresses in large merchant robes that cover his head when he does go out.
Since he has a smaller build and looks rather feminine he ends up having to crossdress a lot for infiltration missions. He doesn’t fuss about it, but it’s really uncomfortable to wear all the prosthetics.
He’ll use shadows in his throat to change how his voice sounds for various reasons. He doesn’t know how to do so without them.
Despite it having been more than a decade since he’s directly interacted with his mother, he still has trouble referring to her as anything but “Mother”. He’ll start to say something else, but always unconsciously corrects himself.
He also has a puncture scar on his right thigh, gotten during the same mission as when he got the scars on his arms, but because of a bug monster tail stabbing him.
The scars on his arms make him uncomfortable when he sees them, but only because he knows that Rashad feels bad for having been the one to give them to him despite being controlled. Azre doesn’t like for there to be such an obvious reminder about the incident when with Rashad, so he’ll wear some sort of sleeve to cover them up. He’s a little less careful when Rashad isn’t around though, and he compensates for the extra warmth by wearing wider necklines.
Andara used to always tell Azre that “Everyone is part of a chain that holds our lifestyle together, and a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, Azre. I will not have you disgrace our family by being that link.” Which ended up causing Azre to be unable to handle having to completely rely on someone else. He ends up getting severely distressed and fluctuates drastically emotionally.
His hair is hip length now, and he rather likes it that way. Not just because it looks nice, but he actually likes it when people do it up in different, modest styles or otherwise play with it.
He’s pretty skilled at vintage bellydancing because of all the undercover jobs as a wall flower courtesan. He can’t shimmy, but he still has pretty fluid movements and is fairly skilled otherwise.
Likes:
Spending time with his family, regardless of what they’re doing
Training and working with Rashad
Doing his chores unconventionally
Scaring people by appearing from the shadows
Pineapple
Cherry and coconut tea
Experimenting with magic with Malik
Listening to Malik ramble about anything and everything (most of the time)
Moderate cuddling. Don’t wrap him up into a ball unless he really needs comfort, it makes him feel too helpless, but he does enjoy lazing on someone, or sitting somewhere with a family member having their arm around him.
Dislikes:
Stupid/unintelligent people
Weapons. Especially thin blade, hollow ground longswords
Watermelon
Crying
Being helpless
The scents of lemon, and licorice wine at the same time. His mother always smelled like this. She never got drunk, or even slightly blushed, but she does have a preference for licorice flavored wine.
