Fighting on the battlefield without a mask was different in the base fact that instead of recognizing me as an Arean I was seen as an Angel first. Several times I was almost hit by the people I fought for. Several times I realized how much my fake identities had come to protect me in this war.

But somehow standing among the soldiers as myself made me feel more like one of them than I ever had before.

It was me who dived from the tops of Deamond's tower.

It was me who stepped in front of that arrow heading for an Arean back, slicing it in half before it could reach it's target.

It was me who stood and stared at the sky as Helia's light brought an end to the warmth that had protected us for so long.

Once again Caelius had taken from me what was important. Once again that faction ripped apart that which it didn't understand. Their obsession with justice consuming them to the point they could not see the mercy Ares had.

When all others condemn someone as an outcast, Areans take them in.

When someone is beaten to the point they cannot stand on their own anymore, Areans pick them up and carry them along until they can get back on their feet.

Maybe Deamond didn't run the nation with a strict hand, But he was there for what really mattered.

And all I could do when he fell was scream at Caelius to get out of our home.

They say that war never determines who's right, only those who remain behind. Well we're still here dammit. You may have taken our God but you haven't wiped us out yet and we're going to keep fighting to stay.

The thing is though. . . Deamond was the one who kept Areans from destroying themselves in the Moon Prison. With him gone, and the murderers at our doorstep. . . who's going to keep them from tearing you apart?

You have no idea what you've done, because you never tried to understand those who were different from you.

Who will you pray to now?

So seeing all the cool strip things dragoonwys and ShadowOfSolace and other people are doing I wanted to give it a try and be cool too |D It was difficult, but I'm happy with the results =u=

Shout out thanks to DarkerPersnicketer for inspiring me with her recent pic of Li. Saw it and had the very last frame of this strip pop into my head. 8D

Gosh it was weird to draw Emi in his first ever outfit for this group |D He still wore it, as that's how he appeared whenever he was supposed to be in some public thing as a Commander. Could have been battle or something else. He never showed his face in anything that could tie him as working for Deamond until this mission. (I just wasn't picky and let people who drew him in collabs draw him however they wanted |D )

As for what happened to his shoes. . . they melted. 8'D He's gotten into the bad habit of running through fire, lave, explosions and all that burning good stuff. |D Being bonded to Kel means that he too is only able to be burned by a Caindread's fire and so he's gotten a bit reckless around flames.

Aaaaand there were several other things that I thought about while drawing this but I've forgotten the rest. 8'D
