It's another layer that you can use to heighten the contrast...I wish I knew PS lingo to explain it better. It definitely makes things more defined.

That reminds me of a filter that we use in the darkroon. Filters heighten contrast too.

I really love the perspective, it adds so much visual depth to this piece. I also love the eerie atmosphere... I definitely would not like being left alone here! lol Then again, if I had a camera with me I would be having a lot of fun so I take that last comment back.
