Description
Ingenuity has flown on Mars for the 50th time and exceeded expectations 10-fold (so far)! ππ₯³πThis image, optimized for contrast and brightness, was sent to Earth on April 13, 2023, and shows Ingenuity's shadow on the surface of Mars (marked with a black arrow).
The image was taken on Sol 763 of the Perseverance mission (April 13, 2023) by the navigation camera during the 50th flight.
Ingenuity flew at a maximum speed of 4.6 meters per second, covered a distance of 322 meters and stayed aloft for 145.7 seconds.
The maximum flight altitude was 18 meters. This is a new record. The previous maximum flight altitude was 16 meters and was achieved during the 49th flight.
Ingenuity was originally supposed to fly a maximum of 5 times on Mars.
In the meantime, the small helicopter has flown 50 times.
As of April 14, 2023 (after 50 flights), the distance flown is approx. 11.55 km.
The helicopter was aloft for approx. 89.2 minutes, reached a maximum altitude of 18 meters and a Fastest Ground Speed of 6.5 meters per second (mars.nasa.gov/technology/helic⦠).
