Another HTTYD doodle, this time Hiccup and Fishlegs. Fishlegs is sort of adorable in the book. I think he's the only change I dislike in the movie. The design here is sort of a mix of Nico Marlet's with some of my own ideas.I figure he's summing up why Viking existence is so horrible...Hiccup can only agree.

Not a lot of people seem to know the differences between books and movies. I love the fact that your doing art for the books. Not only that but your doing a great job too.

Nico Marlet's designs had four fingers and I thought to myself...they're kind of nostalgic, those four fingers. I think I'll draw them too.

Wow I think the last time I saw four fingers was on the Dark Crystal. I'm glad someones actually continuing with that tradition.

Finally saw the movie and loved it. Had no idea there was a book and that they changed Fishlegs. Must look into it!
This is great! I don't mean to have a one track mind but I just want to sync it up to the guy from the Hetalia dub of the "I hate cafes like this" bit that utters "Life is meaningless..."

The books are cute, really for a quite young audience but they were still fun reads. Fishlegs is Hiccup's best friend in the book (they decided Hiccup's story for the movie would be stronger if he acted alone--I agree--but I still kinda miss Fishlegs) and he's very adorably hopeless.
That completely fits.
