It says on the side that its a 5B, which is pretty dark. Brand names for art supplies really are not as important as the artist's skill. Any decent set of pencils should suffice for a penciler. Personally, I have a set that ranges from 8H (about as light as pencils get) to 8B (practically charcoal), but I only use a couple of them frequently.
