I love the beard. But oh, seeing him with his wife makes this so much more heartbreaking. I had built up a little story in my own mind that maybe Argis just didn't get that his Thane had a crush on him, but knowing he's a married man makes this sad, because of course you can't help who you fall in love with.
I'm really way too invested in this whole thing!
