I was looking for this. Your style resembles my logic when it comes to drawing, and it's always nice to see amazing artists following a line of thinking you can follow trough. Thanks a bunch!

I understand how you make your drawings, and now I can see this "Work in Progress" image... but I still think the final drawing is a photograph!
It is amazing to see your skills at drawing skin tones and hair, and double-amazing that you start with monochrome (greyscale) colours

I have to ask you this. I am watching your work and from the beginning I wonder - do you draw all those beautiful muscles from your mind, or do you use any photo reference?

Mostly I use the reference(It's very important) But, for this pic I draw from my mind.^^

I'm also curious about the greyscale - how do you go from the grey shaded illustration to the flesh toned illustration?

I change it in color balance(Ctrl+B). And paint over one again on another layers.

Whats the point of using grey scale, than color? I see a lot of artists use that method, and always wondered if it was just a preference or if there were benifits. Thanks to anyone that answers!
(Also, love this)

Sometimes shading in colors is distracting or maybe it is a style choice. When you shade in grey scale you are forced to see the contrast and the colors are not as distracting. It also seems like a greater challenge to a lot of people to work in grey scale. I know I find it so hard.

Now that you mention it, I do notice the colors tend to have a lot less contrast when people use this technique...huh. Maybe I'll have to give that a shot.
Thanks by the way!

Crazy thing is that I find grey scale so much easier than color...I can pick colors but cannot pick a palette to save my life..

I just struggle with shading in general so the value and tone are still something I'm learning.

I am impressed. Wish I could draw like that. Alas, I'll just have
to settle for fawning over Master. That's okay, though, handsome
definitely deserves it.

Thank you so much for posting this! Very interesting to see your work process.
I've been wanting to try painting from grey to colour like that, I think it's called rendering? Just don't know where to start!
