For his brave efforts in securing and defending Earth from the rising threat of the Decepticons, Ultra Magnus offers Bumblebee a chance to attend the Autobot Academy and become an Elite Guard.
To everyone's amazement, Bumblebee politely declines the offer, saying that though becoming an Elite Guard was his dream, he'd rather stay with his teammates and Sari against the Decepticons.
After much urging and persuasion from his team though, he eventually accepts and joins Ultra Magnus's crew back to Cybertron with the promise of returning back to Earth.
training under his Elite Guard superiors and especially Jazz and Blurr in particular, he finally achieves the full rank of Elite Guard and is upgraded as a result into Elite Guard Goldbug.
He is now faster and stronger in his new body, relying on his speed and his own brand of tricks and moves to catch enemies by surprise. (plus it's stylish and makes him look cool)
slightly more levelheaded, kinder, and less rash than he used to be, he still enjoys playing around, much to Sentinel's exasperation.
He's overjoyed at the prospect of meeting his friends and Sari again, and though they too had dearly missed him, they are still shocked and unsure of how to react as to how much he's changed from before.
just a little story idea i've been poking with on a whim
but seriously i'd be so happy if they put Bumblebee as Goldbug on the show...
i'm still not happy with his body design, since i kept his body mostly the same, except gave him more chest to beef him up (oh darn shoulders, why must you mock me so?
)I am happy how his head turned out, he's still recognizable as the cute, if older yellow bug that he is.
btw, if you haven't noticed already: AERINSOL'S SKETCHES ARE AS MESSY AS HELL!

given that Bumblebee is my favorite Autobot, I just had to put him kicking aft as Goldbug!
and as an Elite guard, of course, since i'm so nice that way!
but really the initial background i had at first for Goldbug's development was sadly too dark to fit realistically into the show, with Bumblebee actually "dying" and being "reborn" as a totally different mech that had Bumblebee's memories
it's a complex enough plot bunny that i really want to become a story if i ever get off my lazy arse and organize it...

ah but it says that bee will turn into hot shot, when it's stated that hot shot will be a separate character in Rodimus's group ( i'm actually looking forward to the meeting between hot shot and Bee; chaos is bound to ensue when those two finally meet!

heh, yeah i guess but here's my first take on Goldbug:
Bee was actually supposed to "die" but with the powers of the Allspark or Sari's Key, or some other higher power, he gets "reborn" into Goldbug
his body gets upgraded and he's now more powerful but his mind and personality is changed so much that there's barely anything left of his previous life.
he remembers a little about being Bumblebee, and his spark still reacts to things Bumblebee wold react to, but he's essentially a whole new person and he struggles to cope with the loss of his previous self and his current existance
his friends do their best to help him with his predicament, but it will be a long time before it gets any better for Goldbug, who resents Bumblebee and his happy personality, something he wants back if only to not be lonely
