Personality:
As far as Shogo is concerned, only one ‘mon in the world matters: “me, myself, and I.” With a prideful streak as big as his impressive moustache, Shogo loves to talk, mostly about himself, and basks in the attention of others. He’s self-centered, a bit childish, and takes “egocentric” to a new level, but he’s also a masterful commander and a powerful force on the battlefield. He’s also quite the force off the battlefield too, as his temper tantrums are known to bring buildings toppling down. He even goes so far as to say he is descended from the great fish that formed the ocean around Sazanami (conveniently forgetting that this same fish almost drowned Sazanami). However, while his claims of having no weaknesses (except the inability to walk on land, a problem fixed by his assistant carrying him around) sounds far-fetched, perhaps his boasts aren’t so off the mark. After all, he owns an impressive army that is called upon as the Shōgun's "back-up-army" if needed: you just need to be prepared to work with a ‘mon who is (admittedly) very hard to work with.

History:
Shogo had a wondrous childhood, full of sunshine and rainbows - but only because his parents showered him with attention and would let him get away with murder. The meaning of ‘no’ never came up, and Shogo swam circles around his parents, wrapping them around his tail fin without even trying. Only one ‘mon resisted his “charms,” his grandmother the Sea Sage; she often told Shogo’s parents to disciple their son, but they loved him too much to dare, and thus Shogo flourished under their praise… eventually believing himself faultless.
That belief had a large part in his participation in the war against Yamatai. By this point, he was the leader of his province, a land known for clear mountain springs and a tradition of lore-keeping, and he wanted to keep his territory safe from those “traitors” in the north. His grandmother opposed the battle, attempting to talk her grandson into reacting so harshly, but Shogo dismissed her advice and fought alongside Katsumi’s father. For his great service, he was awarded a part of Yamatai’s lands as his own, and he returned home to expect a glorious welcome - only to be surprised by the Sea Sage’s horror.
His relationship with his grandmother had always been tumultuous, but she couldn’t even look at him, and Shogo had no idea why. Time has passed since then, as it ought to, and Shogo has tried to mend their bond the only way he knows how: by showering her with precious gifts gotten from trades with the other provinces, even building her a new home (after he accidently knocked hers down). Nothing has worked, though, so Shogo continues to run his kingdom as he sees fit.
More recently, he offered his services to Aether during the Sazanamese tea party, but they did not take it - no scales off his tail, he had plenty to do at home. Later, he went to Katsumi’s aid during Isas’ and Shino’s fight in the mountains. And now? He has been informed of Sho’s “treachery” - something that comes as no surprise to him, considering Sho’s relation to the ‘mon who destroyed his “glorious fish ancestor” - and gone missing… If his last encounter with “traitors” is any indication, Aether could have a serious fight on their hands.
