Ju-long has always had a regal presence (even before he knew his origins). Courageous, valiant, and resilient, Ju-long tackles problems head-on, using either his sharp mind or strong fists to solve the issue. He sometimes speaks out of turn, lashing out with a barbed remark usually dipped in sarcasm, but that is only because he feels the need to give his opinion on solutions no one has even considered. His strategic planning on the battlefield is brilliant - even Kamen will ask for his advice - and he carries himself more like a knight than a ninja, preferring to battle his opponents head-on rather than attack from the shadows. However, he has had to stay in the darkness for most of his life, keeping his face shrouded by a mask, but for what purpose no one would say. Now he knows the truth, and Ju-long is more than ready to face his destiny in the sun.
History:
Ju-long’s earliest memories are faded by time. He recalls being cold when he first hatched, surrounded by snow and craggy rocks - then, warmed by fiery coloured fur as he was taken up into the mountains and left in the care of monks in a monastery. These moments, he later learned, were when Yi, an Arcanine ordered to kill him, hesitated and was instead found by Guan Wai and led up to the monastery where she left him in peace. Ju-long doesn’t remember much of his time in the monastery; he was only an infant, after all, and it was soon after his arrival that he was sent to Sazanami, for his own safety.
He was taken in by the Semi no Tamashī and raised as a warrior. Ju-long struggled at first, and he felt the stares of everyone around him, judging him… wondering about his past, of which the master and leader of the clan had been tight-lipped. But over the years, he improved, and the clan soon accepted him as one of their own, protecting him as they would their brother. His interest in the finer arts of strategy drew him to work alongside Kamen, and despite the Accelgor’s general grouchiness, Ju-long absorbed much of his teaching, even improving upon them. He even grew close to Master Hisato - at least seeing him as a grandfather figure - and Ju-long was proud to call himself a Semi no Tamashī agent.
Little did he know, the stars were aligning in a bizarre and unexpected way, and his future was bound to deception on a grand scale. During the most-recent fight between Isas and Shino, Ju-long was shocked to find himself a suspect of an assassination attempt on the Shōgun! On Kamen’s advice, he hid amongst the rice fields of Sho’s lands, hoping the truth would be discovered and he could go back to the battle. Unfortunately, that was not the case, and he was captured by King Alaric and his citizens, taken to “face trial” - only to then be released by Sho, thus throwing the poor foreigners into a confused state. All was made clear, and Ju-long received their tentative trust… and was again surprised to be sent to Gāng Tiě.
He had no idea what he would learn there - but it certainly wasn’t that he was Wei Guang’s grandson, rightful heir to Gāng Tiě’s throne, and eldest brother to three siblings! Those early memories fell upon him, and from the story of a speechless Greninja, he learned what had befallen his parents after his birth. He had been unable to save them, never even got to meet them… but he would make it up to them and honor their memory by keeping his siblings safe and wresting control of his homeland from his grandfather, no matter the cost.
