Description For lack of a better title...

I love my gloves. They're kidskin (not childskin, you silly people) and I found them at an antique shop for $13!!! Yay, new Integra jacket. It makes me look tall..?

I HATED THAT JACKET SO MUCH! Never buy Burda except for simple patterns, and even then, you can find those same patterns through Butterick or Simplicity on sale at JoAnn's . If you've got balls and money and REALLY good fabric, I'd recommend Vogue for suits. Vogue for tailored costumes, all the way. There's a lot more detail in the pattern, and that makes it look roughly 9001 times better.

I'm pointy... like Jack Nicholson lol

How tall are you? I'm a shorty so I'd love to know how to look taller!

Looks awesome, though I still refuse to believe Integra's a woman. Her and Rip van Winkle. They will forever be men in my mind *shakes head in defiance*

Haha! I'm roughly 5'1. I'm honestly surprised that you're asking me how to look taller! I always feel like I'm sinking into the ground lol.

I focus a lot on how I stand. I've had it drilled into my head to focus on my posture (from parents, horseback riding, dance, and marching band), so I'm always aware of how I'm standing. The old classic is to imagine that there's a string coming from your head and that someone is gently pulling it up. Otherwise, you can press your shoulders against a wall to feel how to "hold your shoulders back/straight". Or imagine a ball of air just below your lungs that's lifting you from the ground. There's a million different ways of visualizing it, but pick one and stick with it.

Stand in front of the bathroom mirror before showering. By seeing yourself in the nude, you can better see how to hold your body without pesky clothing getting in teh way. It's kind of awkward at first, but you'll get used to it... start in your underwear first if you'd like.

I also refuse to wear flats. I have one upcomming cosplay where I'm going to wear a pair of Toms, but other than that, I've worn flats only a couple times. If I can get away with it, I wear heels. If I can't, I try to wear slight platforms (not obvious ones). You can't tell in the pic, but I'm wearing 2" heels with that costume. High heels will actually rearrange a woman's skeletal alignment ever so slightly... it makes her look taller. I'm guessing that this is directly affected by the height of the heel. I'm not 100% sure about the effect on men, but I assume it's similar.

And the final icing on the cake... the one thing that can save or damn a photo. No matter how straight you stand or how high your heels are, if your photographer is ignorant or untalented, you WILL look short. Think about all those awful Red Carpet photos... Those actresses are terribly, horribly, ridiculously tall; but since the photographers are taking shots so close and so high, perspective will widen the hips (since it's closer) and shorten the legs. For full body shots, ask the photographer to lower his horizon to somewhere closer to your navel or hips. If you're taking a person's pic at a con, take a knee for the shot... it will lower the lens the exact same way.

Wow, I talk a lot. I really hope that all helps out and I wasn't too wordy in my explanation. If you have any other questions, give me a yell and I'll see what I can do

Aw nah, that's great. I'm 5'2 7/8" so...just shy of 5'3" but I usually like to cosplay taller males. I'm getting better at choosing smaller people, both male and female, but it's always so daunting to not be able to cosplay my favourites 'cause I'm too damn short.

This advice does help, though I suppose group shots are still an issue LMAO

HAHA! You're talking to the queen of essay-written responses, so no need to apologize for wordy responses. I do it all the time Thanks

Lol, I agree. Vogue patterns are far superior, but man they take forever... worth it though.

Also, I must say I've never seen anyone do her pointy bangs better than you have. I usually hate when people try to do them because it comes out looking so weird and unnatural, but you make them natural and really nice. <3

Really? I keep thinking, "these look like ass and not Adella's"... She's mastered the Gravity Defying bangs. She told me how she did it, but I can't seem to figure it out...

I Vogue patterns. I also hate them.
