Description I have to make something that isn't clichΓ©
It's harder than it may seem.
When the themes are drilled into one's head
It could mean nothing, but I need to begin.

The thought of recycling old themes...
It seems so easy to reuse
But, this causes everyone to think it's been done again
Like news reprinted two days on end.

Originality is always borrowed
This much is certain
It doesn't mean I couldn't find something
To force into my own spin.

If only I could think of one idea
I could grab hold and begin to write
If only this were easier for me
I need to delve deep and find a source from within.

I know exactly how you feel.

I know exactly how you feel. All my so-called "originality" comes from somewhere else.

My never-fail twelve-step program to creating characters:
1) pick a character/person you already love
2) change some things about him/her (in my case, make them a cowboy)
3) make them magical or give them some otherwise un-normal characteristic
4-11) ???
12) PROFIT!!

Oh, I know. I'm the same way. I just try and figure out what I should go for in a character.

Thank you for the advice, seriously.
