tldr/Summary; He is emotionally volatile and unstable, but hides behind a really cheery mask most of the time.
Kind - Focused - Realist
[+] The elf is a highly reserved individual. Having grown in an environment which was always highly religious and a very domineering father who (ironically) strove for one to act peacefully towards others, he was molded into something that kept out of other's hair-the trait remaining with him after his later move to Estraude.
He has a masterful sense of focus, taking things like studying and training quite seriously. Over the years, both have become a major distraction to him and their importance to him has only grown. While admirable, the behaviour can take a foul turn too-they can either become a stressor to himself, or make him act prideful towards others.
He is accepting that things won’t always turn out for the better, but everyone is given a life to live and has to deal with the hand that was dealt to them. He won't sugar coat facts, and is rather blunt when he has to be, as he favours truth rather than white lies. For the most, he is pleasant to be around. He is genuinely sociable, but all of this is rather structured and somewhat formal towards strangers and acquaintances. Towards family and close friends, his cheerfulness is a bit more unbridled, his interactions rather playful and entertaining (along with being a little bit clingy)

Depressed - Panicky - Irritable - Prideful- Grudge Holding
[ - ] Living in a prolonged state of lonliness, his once ignored depression has developed into something a little less ignorable. Being one who makes an effort in being pleasant, his hurt never really is allowed a chance to surface itself, and thus bottles up prior to bubbling over into occasional downs that can become physically debilitating to the man. He believes he can mask hurt, but prolonged periods of quietness, aloofness, and overall detachment towards others point to when his mind is waging war against him.
He is susceptible to taking very minor things and blowing them out of proportion. This can either lead to a panicked state, or irritation given the situation. If given a situation that is slightly overwhelming, he does have the tendency to panic rather easily. If a situation irritates him, however, he's known to lash out uncharacteristically- he can be ruthlessly savage if triggered enough. Usually, however, irritation is manifested in sarcasm.
He isn't one with much self esteem, and a lot of his self worth comes from his work-whether it be training or researching-a trait that was implemented first when he was a child growing with exceedingly stoic parents, separation from his spouse, and decades perfecting his dreams in solitude. The behaviour has become a method of coping-rather than falling into sadness, makeshift admiration for himself has been able to pull him out of depression many a times-even if it is over the top occasionally. The attitude makes him hold grudges-he can make himself believe he's in the right, and those who 'wronged' him may be blacklisted mentally, for an indefinite span of time.

[The Past]
[Early Beginnings - ~2 centuries in the past]
His beginnings began about a decade following a union of a young merchant light elf from Delverne and a wood elf conjurer from who was fleeing from Estraude at the time. The oldest of three, his beginnings were comfortably peaceful. His childhood held no real ill to it. His parents were loving and his surroundings were seemingly perfect to raise children in.
While kind, his father wished for him to become a priest for Aurea, but the then little one was far more interested with the conjuring skills of his mother. Papa was known to be a little overbearing, but due to his gentleness, he really only succeeded in putting the young one in a devout mindset. While both parents were supportive of him, they did favour a lot of discipline and structure in upbringing. This was perhaps the only ill that he would face developmentally- being encouraged to never do anything without perfect focus would eventually feed his developing depression.
As he grew, his mother was the sole individual guiding him in developing his abilities. His first summon was a beast type familiar that took the shape of a fantail dove-like avian. The summon was one of his greatest accomplishments at the time, and he grew exceedingly fond if it- lovingly referring to it as ‘Marie’
Along with continuing his studies and honing his skills, he would eventually somewhat fulfill his father’s wishes and take devoutness towards the Gods more seriously-but it did not develop solely towards Aurea- rather towards Therras, Mareus and Iridus as well, as his mother’s upbringing seemed to interest him a little more than the workings of Delverne. Thus, he developed a rather solid Estran outlook early on in life as well.
[Youth]
Entering adulthood, he did, to his family’s surprise, wish to actually pursue priesthood. The change of heart was rumored to be a means of escape his father’s constant offers to become a working hand in their little business, but ecstatic affirmation from father at the time offered no obstacle for his new endeavour. For a short while, therefore, he did play a part in the clergy.
His time within the clergy wasn’t permanent, as he would find a distraction within his chosen path about a decade and a half later. His main excuse for leaving for leaving was so he could once again focus on his summoning. He argued it would be more useful future than priesthood would, if something like another war like the one in mother's homeland happened again.
….That, and he brought a spouse home with him too.
[Adulthood]
While he never did oblige to his father's second wish of becoming a hand in the family business, he did find a new profession in Researching-centered around flora and fauna as a means to better control and properly treat his familiar. Things were bliss for a while, but it turned out his love wasn’t entirely as supportive as his family had been. He remained ever faithful to honing his skills. A bit of focus would have been tolerated, but he neared obsession with his training. Eadin, his love, would give him signs, but he paid no real heed to it. Claims of being ignored for days weren’t seen as truth. He mistakenly took their complaints too lightly.
Slight issues would eventually turn into massive disagreements between the then young pair, which one day led to Eadin angrily reacting and distracting him as he was sending his summon back to her realm-resulting in the destruction of his familiar. While the event was relatively minor, it did devastate him at the time. He tried his hardest to remain composed around them, but ultimately wasn’t able to shake his disappointment off. Eadin was jealous of a summon. His love being unable to listen to reason, and him being unable to shake off disappointment, he grew detached. One night returning home from aiding his father he learnt his prolonged down seemed to be too much for his partner, as they had left. This only fed his irritation towards his partner.
Over time, Delverne started to become wearisome to him as once happy memories born there began to irritate him. He eventually relocated to his mother’s homeland, Estraude, as a means to escape.

[Early Estraude years to Present]
He took the initiative to slowly wane away from his father’s religious influence. While respect for them remained, his devoutness towards the gods diminished because somewhere in his thoughts he would occasionally blame them for altering a perfectly happy past. More importantly, Estraude offered a relatively peaceful setting to once again commence his training. Fast forward many decades and he honed his skills into that of a Conjurer. Saddness would come and go, but most of it faded into a bitter pride. It could be argued that mayhap his alone time and over focus drove him a bit too much, but least he was able to perform in peace. The choice to move had been a good one. Alone, perhaps, but after a long while he was content again.

[Current]
The past he grew up in had, admittedly, been a peaceful one. However, as time commenced to move on one thing became blaringly clear - that the current time is far more tumultuous. Current times brought relatively repressed memories back more often to haunt him; thoughts such as whether his family was still alright became more of a norm. Admittedly it's softened him a touch.
Nevertheless, the current times were seen as a bit of a blessing now too-he was given a chance to truly perform in the art that had interested him from his very early ages. And it would be appreciated once again. He didn't have to be guilty about it anymore. While most of his time is still spent researching the world around him and its inhabitants, he gathered the courage to become a more willing aid to those within his country’s alliance-especially with the implementation of the Estran National Service.
Further...becoming more proactive sounded like a feasible manner to find some closure perhaps.
Additional info:
- His Birthday is September 4th
- The spouse [Eadin] used to use gender neutral pronouns.
- While he has separated from his spouse for ages now, he’s still avidly committed to them and doesn’t refer to himself as single in the least. He’s forever waiting for them to come back. Curiously enough, he has a family he’s quite close to in Estraude that happen to be his Grandchild and Great Grandchildren, but he’s unaware completely that they hold that relation to him. [A Great Grandchild Will be a future character/NPC]
- He has a particular soft spot towards younger individuals, and wildlife, particularly avian-like creatures.
- His upbringing has obviously harbored animosity towards Dark Elves and a slight distrust towards humans, but even in unfriendly confrontations, he’s more likely to act aversive, or in the very least verbally threatening, rather than proactive and initially violent.
- Along with other things, He has a difficult time forgetting past events. He holds onto events for very long periods of time-some even indefinitely. It's really not a wise idea to make him irritated with you-but sometimes its like walking on eggshells with him.
- Elric doesn’t really tolerate Cold that well. Susceptible to head colds if he doesn’t dress properly.
- He secretly wants to open an Aviary sometimes, decides against it however because he likes seeing them free better.
- While he is able to tolerate large amounts of stress in a long period of time, but if given multiple stressors is a short period of time, overwhelming him is not a difficult task.
- Elric will have a total of 5 summons- at current has 3. (Mostly for companionship, 2 at current are used for combat), his favourite one bearing a striking resemblance to the one that passed many years back. He calls this one ‘Mariah’.
- If you manage to fluster him, he does start to stutter.
