Description
So, here is a dragon I finally got around to finishing. I sketched this beastie out in a class over a year ago, and he has patiently waited to be finished.I've tried coloring this a couple of times, but I've never liked how it turned out. Part of the difficulty is that I suck at linearting, cuz for some reason I just can't draw a straight line. So, now that I am a wizard with the Illustrator pen tool, I started lining with that. I believe that this is probably about the best project I have completed to date, and I'm very eager to do more like it.
Story behind the phrase-
Having just graduated with a Creative Writing degree, I have discovered that art of any kind is hugely under-appreciated. We are taking away more and more funding, and it is nearly impossible to make a living doing any form of art. However, our cultures revolve around art in every form. Without using our imaginations, humanity as we know it would not exist. We would not be able to advance if we did not image things that do not currently exist.
Dragons seem to be a pretty good representative of imagination, so I paired this handsome fellow up with this phrase.
To sum up, this picture is to support all those of us in any artistic field who feel like giving up. There will come a time when people recognize the effort that you put into your work, and will appreciate what you are doing.
Sorry for the long rant

Very very creative I think people make digital painting in a very boring way, that's why I prefer traditional. But you found the way to use the computer in a diferent way and make something very interesting and very beautiful.

Thank you, I really appreciate it! I'm going to be trying this method on a few other pictures, hopefully they turn out like this one!

oh wow. that dragon paired with the phrase just empowers the image.
the endless star ocean could represent endless power.
the swirly and ... "fading" metalic colours of the dragon is all that imagination.
I can't think up any more words to describe this wonder... *in awe*

I see it at it little version and I already know you used Illustrator. (I am a graphic designer so that why I know that was Illustrator) I am gazing at you scale they look like cymbal but it give the drawing perspective. I have the impression that the dragon is looking directly in my soul.

Thank you! I wanted to make the scales metallic so that they seemed to reflect everything

I have a similar problem with lineart
making a smooth line is difficult >:U especially with carpal tunnel and low amounts of patience. Luckily with digital art you just hit ctrl-z and try again.
This came out really nicely, i love the ornate details. C:

Thank you!
Yeah, I have tendinitis. Now that I'm out of school it doesn't seem to be acting up as much, but I agree, ctrl-z is a life saver! And patience helps too. Otherwise I'm tempted to just throw my tablet out the window.

Lul, usually when i lose my patience I just quit and dont go back to whichever project it was (though i've been trying to get out of that habit)

Hehe, well, as I said, this has been sitting around for over a year. I have a bad habit of giving up on projects I hit some wall with, sometimes giving yourself an incentive like chocolate works (NaNoWriMo has taught me this!)
