I have this AU in my head where Jorge survived Reach, slowly found his way back to human space, and then proceeded to be done with the UNSC after being grilled over destroying the supercarrier - which would have been a prime candidate for Operation: RED FLAG. He's no traitor, still utterly disapproving of the Insurrection and movements like it, but he's done with ONI. Recognizing how sacrificing so much did, in a way, pay off in the end, unable to change that. But still not willing to go through another meat grinder and come out realizing all the deaths were just to buy time, and that his own effort to save people did in fact rob Command of their best chance at RED FLAG.
I think he'd find his niche on the fringe of human space, seeking out colonies that went dark but were never confirmed as destroyed, bringing pain to anybody who's picking on the little people. Let's hope the bullies aren't ever anybody from ONI!
