Tuan growled. He had been pacing back and forth for the majority of the morning, awaiting the arrival of the hunters that had managed to ensnare his front paw in a bear trap. It was now noon, and no one had even appeared on the horizon, and Tuan was getting nervous. What if no one showed up, and he slowly died of thirst or hunger? Already his belly was grumbling, and it had only been 12 hours since he last fed.

Tuan lay down in the soft grass and licked his paw. The fur had been stripped away and the skin rubbed raw under the metal cuff. The sun beat down hot on his head, and he yearned for the shelter of a tree or a cave. An eagle flew in the distance, and he watched it swoop up and down, floating on the breeze like a leaf.
