Generally timid and self-reliant, Damien doesn't have that natural human instinct to trust others or ensure any part of the situation to anyone. He usually keeps to himself and dodges every chance of human interaction, preferring to be and work alone. Although he sounds cold and uncaring, it is the contrary when it does come down to him having to communicate with others. Despite not bothering to acquaint himself with people, he makes sure that no one is to worry about him when asked of his state of mind or such. The biggest reason why he doesn't have friends is mostly because no one sticks around long enough with his silence and/or constant fidgeting.

Damien's work ethics are nothing like his social interaction skills. When he puts his mind to something, he gets it done and does it well, if not excellently. But also due to the fact that he doesn't rely on others to help him in times of need, he tends to overwork himself and collapse or fall into fatigue (though he is not necessarily a frail boy).

Then, there are the rare times when he simply snaps. In a case where someone forces themselves on him despite his efforts in avoiding the person or situation, he goes into a fit of rage and can literally lift his target up then throw them out the window. Afterwards, he'd only retain a part of the past events but remember the strain he had put on his body.

To his Guide, Damien can never be able to summon her upon will. He doesn't even like it whenever she is present physically mostly due to her appearance and the fact the technically has to force himself to communicate with her. This, though, doesn't stop him from utilizing her when the situation calls for it. Their battles turn out like a bloodbath.

Damien is neither a coward nor a brave one, and neither is he simply stubborn or a push-over. He's a perfect, or not-so-perfect mix of the said traits, and he stays that way whether he realizes it or not (giving me room for his character development!).

History:

Damien, born as an only child, was part of a family that involved the mother being weak and bed-ridden and the father working at a low-paying job and gambling or drinking their money away. Despite his mother's condition, she still served as a good role model and parent to her child through homeschooling him and teaching him basic chores and manners. One day came when his mother never returned from going out to buy medicine for herself (doing it on her own with Damien's father at work), and the boy later learned from the black procession and the rare sullen look on his father's face that his mother had died after suddenly collapsing in the middle of the street. He had been kept from the truth until time came for him to say goodbye to his mother at her very funeral.

After losing his wife, the father felt angry with himself but channeled it all through his son. And finding no use in a weak, young boy, he sold Damien to pay off his gambling debts. Damien was passed from person to person until he ended up in the most unusual predicament to be as a child---a sex slave. His body had served people of all sorts and went through an assortment of ways to be 'used'. He was fourteen, with a body not fully-grown from puberty but still acceptable. This rotten lifestyle had broken him inside and out, but had come to a stop when his owners' junction was busted. Damien was sent to a psych ward after passing hospital check-ups, and went under the wing of a doctor there to help him and get him back up on his feet. For a sixteen-year-old who often had that distant look on his face whenever he were left alone, Damien's doctor saw a hint of hope for him and worked on him for a whole year until she recommended him to finally go outside the ward and to jump back into society. Enter applying him into the OASIS program, and it all goes downhill from there.

Likes:

+ Jamming himself into almost any small space between bookcases, beds, tables, etc. (as uncomfortable as it sounds) to try and blend in with the background instead of the crowd.

+ Soothing music. Ah, yes, he's an avid music lover.

+ The feeling of being useful in any way.

Dislikes:

- When he realizes he's 'fucked up again' (read: missed a good opportunity to do something productive by scaring them away with his tight-lipped personality, or went all 'Hulk' on the situation at hand and sent yet another person to the hospital).

- Being taken advantage of. Though he likes it sometimes, depending on the 'method'. (*internal screaming* THIS SICK MASOCHISTIC BASTARD)

- For some reason, you can scare him shitless with the sound of a car horn or a loud alarm.
