Description

Beemoid group!

Meet my latest creation, the Beemoid- Cute little fluffy buggins!

This is an open species, meaning you're completely free to make your own! They do come with some rules, however.
You must follow the species reference!
You must submit your design to Beemoid-HIVE for design approval, or note Aevix
Preferably, submit your beemoid and its artworks to the beemoid group Beemoid-HIVE
You may not make beemoids to sell or otherwise for monetary gain.
You must credit Aevix as the creator of the species

Some additional information not listed on the reference:
Trait styles not listed may be used, as long as they generally fit the given information
Beemoid markings may be smooth, hard, gradated, iridescent, or glowing!
Beemoid colors are never neon in a sense that they are bright, saturated color stacked on bright, saturated color
Marking patterns may be natural, geometric, unnatural, whatever!
Although base coats are typically neutral toned, there are always exceptions! Pastels and dark pastels are generally accepted.

Beemoids do not have eyelids for any of their eyes. (they can sort of 'squish' their eyes to convey emotions, however)
Beemoids cannot grow spikes, horns, feathers, gems, etc. (they can only gave traits variations as shown on the reference)
  Beemoids have yellowish-green blood
Their skeletal structure reflects that of humanoids, not insects. They do have a skin-like exoskeleton, which hardens at their feet into chitinous scales.

Beemoids can talk, but their speech is very parrot-like. They mostly imitate words they hear the most, but can generally understand language.
Beemoid society reflects that of a beehive, with many worker individuals, soldier individuals, drones, nursery workers, etc.  There is always one queen per hive.
Queen beemoids are larger in size than the rest of the colony, and are usually pampered. Trait-wise, they tend to be fluffier, but not much else distinguishes them.
Domestic beemoids like to serve their owner and are generally playful little beings.
  Beemoids can produce honey.
Despite having delicate wings, beemoids can indeed fly!

Prime Example Beemoids:

Additional information:
Beemoid Information: Social ClassAccessory information to the Beemoid Species Reference
Beemoid Social Classes: (click to jump to a class)
• Queen
• Soldier
• Worker
• Drone
• Solitary
• Domestic
Beemoids have distinct social classes which are determined at birth and stay with an individual for its entire life. Each class maintains the structure, order, and integrity of the entire hive by its unique and defining characteristics.
At the forefront, all members of the hive live to serve its queen. Unlike a beehive or an ant's nest, hive members aren't strictly the queen's daughters (although a large portion of them are!). Hives willingly accept new members- some hives even merging with another should their queen die. This creates a genetically diver

Cool species. A couple questions though,
1) Is taillessness an option, or would I simply have to go with 'docked'?
2) How lenient is the variety in colors/markings? I know no neon, but is white-face ok?
What I have in mind is an appearance experiment with my OC (i.e. drawing my OC as or like other species). I make necessary compromises for what I have to while still trying to keep some of his key aspects.

This species is absolutely stunning and cool! I'm totally going to make one or even a few to share with you. I was just wondering though, is there a specific "naming pattern" that the Beemoids should follow, or can they just be named whatever?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aevix In reply to Aquabubbly [2017-12-04 01:49:00 +0000 UTC]

You can name them however you'd like X)

I do have a mental image of their naming conventions, but I'm not strict on it at all:
Wild beemoids in hives typically have names composed of clicks and chitters - "Krr-tk-tk" would be a wild name for example.
Solitary beemoids may have more complex names, but usually with hard sounds- K, T, X, G - "Traxis" may be a solitary beemoid's name
And Domesticated beemoids can have any name since they're pets

Beemoids in general have trouble pronouncing soft sounds- B, P, M- due to the lack of an upper lips!
