Awww.... I love the friendship between these two guys. They are so cute together. Attitude Adjustment aka Meanager is on the left and on the right is George's Gift.

*Meanager and George have always had a special relationship. Well, as special of a relationship that two horses can have of course! It all seems like it started when George first came to Billie last summer as a two year old.

Meanager had just come out of the Triple Crown, none the worse for wear. His previous stable mate Moneigh had captured the first two jewels only to have the black menace beat him in the Belmont. We had just discovered Meanager's strong suit, distance, and lots of it. Coming out of the Belmont, Meanager was fit and ready for the coming summer. He was stabled at Saratoga to unwind for awhile before he would be sent to compete in the Haskell.

George arrived at Saratoga in early June, fresh from the farm. His eager personality and strong pedigree attracted many trainers but in the end a small guy operation in NY, headed by the trainer Ian Maher, won out. Ian had sent the colt to Saratoga to start his training only to find out he hadn't received stalls for the Saratoga meet. Billie Campbell, the trainer for Meadowlark Acres, offered a stall to Ian, one of his longtime friends.

The day George was placed in that stall at Saratoga was the day when the friendship blossomed. George just happened to be placed right next to the blazed faced black colt. At first Meanager was quite annoyed by the young colt. Frequent theft from his hay net didn't improve his mood either. It wasn't until they were worked together that the relationship ceased being one-sided.

As a way to improve Meanager's mood, Billie sent the colt out with George, hoping that all their time together would soften him to the other colt’s presence. Meanger at first just pinned his ears as they jogged alongside each other. It was only when George's rider let the dapple grey colt out into a gallop that Meanager got riled up. Infuriated to see the colt striding out in front of him he took a hold of the bit and bolted after him. The two colts worked together effortlessly and a new brotherhood was started. *
