I went to visit Afleet Alex at Gainesway during the Breeders' Cup and also got to see some of their other stallions. It was pretty awesome.

Does Tapit race in the Kentucky Derby or are Stallions not allowed to race there?

The Kentucky Derby is a race restricted to 3 year old horses only, so horses only get one shot at entering the Derby during their entire racing career. Tapit raced in the Derby back in 2004, and placed 9th, afterwards he was retired from the track to stud duty in 2005 and has been a breeding stallion since then. Most horses retire from racing around 4-6 years old and go off to the breeding shed for the rest of their years, unless they are geldings of course.
