Description
Just started out with a sketch. In this piece I was trying really hard to replicate the right amount and darkness of shading in a bright sunny day. I just guessed for the right shade of grey and painted in the shadows, then used my eraser at a low opacity on the shadow paint to give just the right thickness of shade on the soldier. I could've done better on the background but the main point was just to experiment with shading and have a slightly comic book look by leaving in the origional outlines.Related content

You pasted a sample under it right and shaded right?
I've been making handpainted camouflage patterns not too long ago, they usually turn out great but some patterns aren't easy to replicate. xD

Yea at first I was like "No! I'm a true artist! I'll do this all by hand!!!" took forever. So yea.

in all honest truth, idk why i like it. something about how you did the soldier and the detail attracts me to the pic. great job.

Okay, I'm curious. This one has gotten more favs than some of my more detailed and realistic pieces. Would anyone care to tell me what's so special about it? I just sketched it up without putting hardly any thought into it. What's the deal? Why is this so popular? O.o

Awesome, the mountain background really gives it a great sense of depth and scale.

Truly amazing, great job on the soldier. It reminds me a lot of when I was in the military. everything is spot on, very awesome.

Well being military I think you did a great job. You nailed a lot of realities about actual combat load/gear. I truly appreciate The research you did if you are not military into finding out how we actually dress in battle garb.

Excellent pic. Multi-cam uniform, PVS-14 night optic, and an M4 carbine with a PEQ-2 laser and EOtech sight. The side-arm and the lack of a unit patch confuses me though...I want to say an officer in a line unit or SOAR unit? I don't really know who you were going for as far as a unit.

Thank you. To be honest this was just a quick sketch to experiment with shading, so let's just say he's 10'th mountain division or something. Or maybe 1'st SFOD since the title is "Lone wolf" but Delta force I know operates in squads. Oh well, I just wanted to do a quck sketch.
