This picture is really great and find his place on your artwork.
The texture is awesome and the treatment in Black and White accurate this impression. Maybe just the focus on the top is a little bit too just but while you're looking all the picture that's just a detail.
In the meanwhile, the dialog between the wood which is organic and the metal is really great : at first sight it's diffucult to separate one from each other.
Maybe even you could made the iron a little bit more clear ( in the highlights) whould change the vision given. But that's just a suggestion off course !
Nevertheless, congratulation for this shot !

thanks for the critique
i lightened the highlights on the barbed wire, and darkened the mid-tones around it as well... hope it looks a little better

My only suggestion is to make sure you're up to date on all your tetanus shots. Otherwise it's a cool shot. YaY for rust.

It might seem so simple, but I really enjoy the vine that is caught between the barbed wires because it really does add up with the title.

it's already extremely contrasted (just look at the texture on the wood )

it's difficult, you have the original i presume.
try push one color of wire and play with niveau and contrast after.
juste suggestion *neutral*
if you want post original perhaps I can try to play with !

already tried thaat the barbed wire was rusted (somewhat), and therefore red... so i used selective color to add as much black to it as i could, and got this result. although, it only darkened little spotted portions... so, there must be another color on the wire. i suspect cyan or blue...
i'm going to look into that... but if that doesn't work, i'm going to have to do it by hand with the burn tool
here's the original: [link] have at it
