Description It's not often I upload memes here, but this is a topic that I've been thinking a lot for...quite a few years honestly. You ever noticed that whenever Warner Bros. is talked about....rarely is it done so in a very positive way? Well given their track record the past few years with a good amount of their films...I can honestly see why. Which is a shame because...I always did have a soft spot for Warner Bros., as I always considered it one of my favorite companies and...I don't think I'm alone on this one.

Any favorite film, tv show, cartoon, or specific characters that we have, most likely are ones given to us by the shield, or are at least owned by them, and that's no exception with me. I always loved watching Looney Tunes cartoons as a kid (and I always preferred them over Mickey and the Gang) there are a good amount of films of theirs that I adore both animated and live-action, several DC titles I really enjoyed, and of course you have the Hanna Barbara characters (Namely Scooby Doo) and obviously Cartoon Network which...I feel sometimes we forget that is a company under the WB umbrella. So yeah, safe to say that Warner Bros. does have it's significant place in our culture, and can be pretty well known as one of Disney's oldest and most primary competitors in the entertainment industry...but nowadays they've become notorious for making some of the poorest business practices imaginable, in which I can almost considered them the Nintendo of the major 5 studios. Now...many have compared Disney with Nintendo, but I'm mostly talking about the "Wii U Era" Nintendo...

And what better place to talk about, than the two markets that they're direct rivals with the mouse, animation and superheroes.

They may have the upper hand when it comes to cartoons with the Looney Tunes, their animated film line up isn't as impressive...profit wise anyway. If you look at many of their 90's
animated movies, most if not all of them are infamous for being some of the biggest box office bombs in that area. Even arguably playing a role in the downfall of hand drawn animation. Heck, Quest for Camelot has mostly gone down as a shameless imitation of the Disney formula. But a major factor to this is how poorly marketed a lot of them were, especially The Iron Giant. Which also had a very troubled production due to how the studio treated Brad Bird. Not only that, but Looney Tunes: Back in Action is considered to be the most faithful Looney Tunes films...and also the worst performing one. While many of them have rightfully gained cult followings in recent years, it doesn't change the fact that Warner Bros. treated them pretty dirty in their prime.

And then you have the notorious DCEU, which has mostly gone down as the textbook example, of how not to build a cinematic universe. Focusing too much on grim dark storytelling, introducing characters before giving them their own movies before jumping into the crossover events, troubled productions that have effected the director's original visions and even led to direct feuds with the studio, some actors being treated very poorly, and just overall trying way too hard to be the MCU...which has led to very unfavorable comparisons. Which really sucks because, whenever there's a film that turns out good, they really showcase the potential this universe can have when it's being it's own thing. Wonder Woman proved you can make a good female lead superhero film, Aquaman had the campy fun that the Synder films lacked, and Shazam! is unironically one of my favorite films of all time...it's a shame that they're part of a universe that's mostly seen a joke, and have no clear plan for the foreseeable future...and just when you think they finally gained their footing, they sadly don't keep it for very long...

The cruel irony is how DC's rival Marvel, now belongs to Disney, which makes their rivalry with Warner Bros. all the more intense, with Disney and Marvel proving to be more competent and corporative, despite being a much younger team up than WB and DC, and that's....kinda sad....To the point where many are claiming that Warner doesn't even care about or deserve the DC brand. Plus with Disney owning Lucasfilm, you could argue they bought Star Wars to have that be their Harry Potter and...I think we all know how that turned out...

...and that's not even scratching the surface of poor, shady practices of theirs. From throwing Johnny Depp under the bus after Amber Heard falsely accusing him, not crediting artists for Space Jam 2 until only after the controversy, and announcing a new black Superman on Henry Cavill's own birthday...

As much as a lot of us complain about Disney having too much power with their monopoly, it's also companies like Warner Bros. that are part of the problem. They just lack the competence and integrity to be seen as a strong, legit rival to them when even Sony's become more worthy of that title lately. And their strong effort isn't as consistent as it should be, and their shining moments only occur when they don't screw over the director's vision or anyone else working on their movies...

But I feel a major factor to Warner Bros. struggles...is their merger with AT&T. Now WB has had their chaotic mergers in the past, but this might be their worst one yet, doing more harm than good. As if they aren't already a shitty cable and internet company, now they have the Warners in their clutches. But with Discovery joining in the merger, (and possibly getting AT&T out of the picture) maybe this could be the turning point that they desperately need...though I probably shouldn't hold my breath.
