I swear...Chris Pratt has become very popular with Hollywood lately...Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's a bad actor, far from it. He's a talented guy that's done countless roles that I've liked (...and don't expect me to get into the "Controversies" with him as of late)...it's just that there's been this trend that he's been given voice roles characters that...well, we didn't expect him of all people to get.

First it was when Nintendo announced him as the voice of Mario for the upcoming Mario movie with Illumination....and now he's been announced as the voice of Garfield for an new upcoming movie with him! These are two iconic characters with VERY distinctive iconic voices....and not to diss on his voice acting, but it's mostly been Chris Pratt being...well, Chris Pratt. Not that he was bad as Emmett from The Lego Movie or Barley from Onward, but it's just a typical trend of actors just mostly using their default voices when they voice these characters. In which I call....the Chris Rock principle.

Now, that's not to say I think this upcoming Garfield movie might suck like the Bill Murray one, in fact....I LOVE the design of this new Garfield. It's probably the most visually appealing the fat cat has been in a LONG TIME. And...best case scenario, Chris Pratt as Garfield might be just like Justin Timberlake as Boo Boo. It sounds cringy at first, but the actor surprises us with a VERY spot on, faithful voice for the character. Weirder things have happened...

So...I'm at least more optimistic with this Garfield film, more so than the Mario movie so far...

But at this rate, ya gotta wonder....which other characters are they gonna have Chris Pratt voice next?!
